To answer your question about this being planned as a trilogy, remember that Batman films were on a 7 year hiatus due to the awful reception of Batman and Robin. Therefore the studio, Warner Bros, wasn't sure how the audience would react to this one and whether they would move on with a sequel although there was the joker tease at the end. Also, Nolan wasn't sure he wanted to return after the Dark Knight either, unless they could come up with a story that was as good as Dark Knight and that ended Batman's journey in a satisfying fashion. So this was not planned originally as a trilogy, only after the success of the films did they move on with subsequent films. Last edited by sunnya23; 12-21-2012 at 10:07 AM. |

Who knows, maybe Nolan will pull a George Lucas and replace Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight with a CGI Holmes, lol.

That aside, I agree on the trilogy viewing experience. I actually went to a trilogy screening for the first showing of TDKR, and seeing it for the first time right after revisiting Begins and TDK on the big screen really heightened the impact. All the callbacks and references to the previous films stood out that much more, and it really highlighted how perfect the overall Bruce Wayne character arc is. Quote:
For my money, it still has the most natural-looking BD transfer of any Batman film. |
