To correct myself; that's not the case for now. Only on the Dolby Atmos side. Jurassic Park (1993) was indeed specially highlighted in the specs to get Dolby Atmos & Dolby Vision like discussed.

Also how embarrassing is it that Spielberg approved a 3D remaster of the film which does look far more faithful to the prints, yet they seemingly went back to a problematic and completely unfaithful old telecine and graded the UHD to look like that instead?

Not only that, but they retained the magenta too on the first and third films! That was pushed to combat color reproduction shortcomings on CRT TVs so it wouldn't have even looked that magenta on the equipment it was designed for at the time.

To me it looked like Universal used the same source for the UHD BDs that was used for the original BDs.

They've already stated that a new Jaws anniversary release with new bonus features would be coming. I can only assume that's it.

It was confirmed that the original was a fresh new scan at the time (and I believe it because there are plenty of fine details in places that are simply not there on the older master). I think The Lost World is too big an improvement detail-wise to not be a newer master. Jurassic Park III also has different geometry and film damage too IIRC. I think it was just lazy, sloppy work by Universal who are thankfully putting out much better stuff these days PQ-wise.

I wonder why they would both have that magenta though? Usually new color timing seems to be warmer in comparison to the cooler look of the UHD and BD.

A sad and common practice among colorists is to refer back to previous home video grades to assist with newer grades instead of using answer prints (or even regular prints which will still typically give you a better idea of a film's look than these terribly inaccurate telecines). I actually think the magenta on the UHD of the third film is dramatically stronger in parts than it was on the Blu-ray too.

So Lost World & III will not be DV+Atmos?

First, I heard about the steelbooks, was annoyed about another rehash and thought the steels are hideous. Then I saw the Dolby Vision+Atmos upgrade and then got annoyed. I was like 'ugh, don't tell me they're gonna make me actually buy them, or miss out on the upgrades a la Sony'? then I see now that it's just Jurassic Park, which makes no sense, why release them all at once like that then? I wish they'd specify better. Either way, if it's true, as long as they release it in amaray somewhere (a la Shaun of the Dead) then I'm good enough because honestly if it was up to me I'd only want Jurassic Park, so.. but ideally it'd be better if they did it for all of them.

Here's also hoping Jurassic Park is a new scan, I hope it's not just the 4K master with a new DV regrade.

Where are people getting this information from? It says on the back cover for the Jurassic Park set at the top (not just under the first film) that it has both Dolby Vision and Atmos. There's also no DTS:X logo on the back either (which the original UHDs had).

If they have completely redone the first film then it would make sense to single it out in some marketing blurb. The current grade is thankfully pretty well known to be problematic now, and I believe 35mm print scans were actually sourced for some retrospectives or something for the film or just CGI in general. It would be a big selling point.

Fallen Kingdom was already Dolby Vision/Atmos on disc to begin with. Why would they change that disc to not include Vision and Atmos?

Yes, that's what the info says.

Jurassic Park (Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision/HDR10)
Lost World (Dolby Atmos + HDR10)
Jurassic Park III (Dolby Atmos + HDR10)

Unless Universal makes corrections like seen on Duel (1971)

Based off this post from the last page, details so far imply they've only given the first Park film a new DV upgrade. Of course, nobody really knows until a press release comes out or the discs do.

No, it's DTS:X plus Dolby Vision.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Juras...lu-ray/206399/

DTS:X logo is also listed on the backcover on the upcoming Steelbook. That disc will be untouched, like you said.

Is this likely to be a US only release? The audio language options have me suspicious about it being a US domestic release.

English, French and Spanish?
