This is a first for me, just got Titanic delivered and opened the envelope only to see the cellophane wrap was clearly opened along the edge and the case was empty.

More proof that thieves just do not have OCD. Why would anyone want a disc without the case and artwork?

Wow, people still plunder discs from their cases? I thought that was no-longer an issue with digital getting all the attention, considering they did away with annoying security stickers on 3-sides many years ago and most don't even have tape across the top anymore.

Free versus not-free? For the same reason many rent and buy digital I suppose: they don't have enough room to store a movie/book/cd collection in a small apartment and/or don't trust their neighbors. They even make disc binders just for such. I assume most toss the cases, though I've seen a lot of used empty case lots on ebay too.

I had the same thing that happened to my The Wolf of Wall Street 4K. It was missing the DC.

They do pull stuff from store shelves to ship and i had an empty John wick 4 case from Target as well. I was able to determine the disc was shipped from a store, so i think theft of these discs is most likely from a store.

I've seen and heard of people stealing the digital code but I agree, it's odd the discs are gone too. I suppose the thief thought it was completely worth stealing. The ripped cellophane is pretty ghetto too.

Oddly this delivery was done by Roadie, which I didn't give it much thought at first, but now I looked it up. Apparently it's a local delivery vendor so it's very possible it came from a local warehouse or store. I know some retailers are experimenting using various key store in certain areas as a shipping hub so maybe this was truly a retail theft by a consumer, then placed back on the shelf as the slipcover is covering the ripped case.

Either way, Target's return policy is extremely good and I was able to get a refund since I bought it cheaper at Best Buy.

I hate any kind of Target store inventory pickup or delivery. If I attempt pickup in San Francisco then it always gets cancelled due to lack of inventory (i.e., all the copies they think they have are already stolen), and if it's delivery from a store then it's often broken, opened and/or missing items (i.e., they shipped the last item that nobody wanted to buy in-store because they could see it wasn't new).

I do give Target credit for doing an easy refund or replacement in such cases. Lately I now have the problem that items can get a shipping label created but the item never gets shipped. I wait until the expected arrival date, and if it still hasn't been shown as shipped I report it as missing (in which case they'll ship another or offer a refund).

It's not just Cart items. I preordered Leviathan (coming out in Feb) using the 20% code. Now it shows Backordered and linking from my Order info the item now shows Out of Stock and this is the description

I just stopped in my nearest Super Target and the selection is so much worse. Just two tiny little stands with plucked movies. Damn. But let’s face it Target had been phasing out of movies in store for a while now. Just sad to see it getting worse and worse.

Its actually phasing back in over the last month or so. 2 months ago online and inshore physical media was practically at zero but its improved considerably since they got a new distributor.

Doesn't look like it, but they do carry it in store. I bought it there on Tuesday.
