They use the original bulbs from Osram, Phillips, etc., the exact same companies and models that the pj manufacturers use, but they put them in their own housings. I got mine for $154 which is half what Epson charges.

Out of 294 reviews on Projector Central they have a 4.76 out of 5 rating and I know that crazyBLUE (Brent), bhampton, and a couple other people on here have been very happy with them.

My lamp is out for delivery right now, unfortunately I have to go to work, but hopefully it will be waiting on me when I get home.
Good to hear the glass sprayage was minimal. I need to order a new bulb. I did an online chat with Projectorlamp.com. They do the same thing. Use OEM bulbs in their housing unit. However, since you and a few other members here have used Pureland Supply, I think I may go that route. They're about $10 higher. But still a far cry away from the $380 that a full OEM bulb will cost me. Hmm, both sites show 88 of my bulbs in stock. Wonder if the sites are related.

It's always nice coming home and finding a little something-something waiting for you. Have you got her installed yet? Lets go!

Don't know anything about that other site, but that is odd that they both have the same amount of stock. I can't speak for the quality of Pureland Supply, as I've just now installed my first not-from-Epson lamp, but my God, it looks sooo good! I swear, it could just be that fresh lamp syndrome, but this lamp seems to have so much more contrast and brightness, and even a bit more overall warmth to the color that I like than either of my other 2 lamps I've used. The other 2 seemed to have a bit more of a green push where this one has more of a touch of red push. I didn't think a lamp would effect the color, as they just put out white light, but this one seems to have more of a 'healthy' coloring, for lack of a better word. It really seems to pop too.

I'm sure that a lot of my happiness with this lamp comes from the gradual unnoticeable dimming over time of the other 2 bulbs, and my relief of the uncertainty of buying my first not from the manufacturer bulb and it not seeming like a hose-job.

The 6 month warranty and great reviews put me more at ease too. From my 1 hour experience with this new lamp, I highly recommend them.

Edit: I also just calculated that it only took 58 hours from the time I ordered until it was delivered, and I used the standard free shipping and got it from Fedex on a Saturday.

I just placed an order. With the free shipping they estimate I will have it on Friday. Once it arrives I will clean the prism and filter in my pj. What do you use to dust/clean your screen?

A clean white T-shirt. Get that sucker mounted and run it through it's paces while it's still under the 6 month warranty.

Frogmeister is quite correct. Make sure you give it a good test within the first six months. I have had to exchange two lamps before. One for bad flicker and the the other just blew up. mighty fine QC.

[Show spoiler]Nice avatar Wabs. It looks like Sulu gave Bones the "SHOCKER".

Where do you buy your lamps from? Were the two lamps you had to exchange from Pureland Supply?

Just a little warning about aftermarket lamps.

A mate of mine and myself purchased similar projectors in 2008. He purchased the JVC RS2 and I purchased the Cineversum Blackwing 3 based on the JVC RS2.

I ran stock lamps for 8000 hours. 4 lamps before I passed the projector on last year.

He ran stock until 2000 hours and changed to an aftermarket. At first it looked fantastic. Brighter than stock. However I noticed the extra brightness and put my hand next to the vent and it was getting way hotter. After 50 hours or so my mate noticed one side of his picture was going cream looking. In the end it went into service and JVC found the extra heat had melted the picture generating panel.

So he got 2000 hours and his projector was stuffed. I got 8000 hours and it looked the same as the day it was new.

Not saying it would happen to your particular model projector but it is something to be aware of.

A 6 month warranty on a pj lamp seems pretty great to me. The OEM lamps direct from Epson only have half of that.

Thanks for the heads-up Badas.

I did a lot of research before buying my new lamp. There's tons of horror stories on Amazon and eBay of people buying mystery knock-off lamps for $25~$75 that end up not working right out of the box, only getting a few hours of use, bad picture quality, and even damaging the pj.

Pureland Supply uses the same original lamps as the projector manufacturers, from companies like Osram, Phillips, and Ushio. From what I've read, in almost all cases, they use the exact identical lamp as the projector manufacturers, but they build their own housings. They also have a 4.76/5 rating out of 294 reviews on Projector Central.

I also have checked the amount of heat coming out of the exhaust vent, and to my hand, it doesn't appear to be any hotter than it was with the OEMs. Also, if you'll remember, I have a strange habit where I like to smell the air coming out of the exhaust vent when I'm shutting it down, and it smells the same as ever.

It's just not installing the lamp, it's everything that goes along with it. I have to bring in the ladder from the garage, clean the pj filter, wipe the "prism", and might as well clean the screen too. Uff da, that's a lot of work for the weekend.

I hope you get as giddy as I did with my 3rd lamp. Every time, it's amazing how a few less lumens over a few years can look just fine, but when you put in a fresh one, it almost seems surprising that you didn't notice it.

Cool. Just watch those vertical edges. It happened on my mates left hand side first. Projector inverted on ceiling. On a 100" screen it went creamish brown 3 inches in.

I'm kinda lucky on my projector. Lamp ranked 4000 hours. It looks as if it will do that also. I'm 1000 hours in and have my manual iris set to -10. So I can go 10 steps brighter as the lamp ages. White colour is stable as well. DreamVision also give all their customers a free lamp with purchase. So I have a spare in the cupboard also.

I will likely get sick of the projector and upgrade before it uses the lamps.

That pj you have is a one of a kind work of art! Why would you get rid of it? I'm still using my factory refurb Epson 6500ub that I got for about $900 almost 4 years ago. If you decide to throw out the DreamVision, I'd be glad to take it off your hands. Hell, I'll even pay for the shipping!

I've got at least the next 5 days off from work, slightly fudged-up, and for some reason, listening to 80's style shit:

I'm sure I'll be giddy as a frog in a fly house. Just need to get motivated to install it. Hopefully sometime in the next 6 months.
