As a fan of the books, I don't think it was a great translation. It may be more accurate to the Ultimate universe reboot, I haven't read those. But character portrayals were drastically different than what I grew up with. I'd suggest renting it or seeing it in a second run theatre before purchase. I also noticed alot of plot holes in the story. It was nice to see Peter and Gwen on screen though.

They have that deal for the Blu-ray also, my local wal-mart had empty DVD & Blu-ray cases in their new release section with that paper slip.

Is this release ultraviolet only? Will it contain a digital copy? My kids use the digital copy in the car and it would be a shame if this release doesn't have it.

Final pricing will likely determine which version I get. The collector in me wants the set with the figures, but it will probably come down to the Blu/DVD combo or the 3D/Blu/DVD combo. Both those versions have the same special features right?

yes unfortunately its ultraviolet only since it a Sony release. Sony(and Warner Bros) no longer offer itunes digital copies. I've learned to embrace ultraviolet but I still prefer itunes any day. I too would have liked to have the Amazing Spider-man on itunes. I wish it were like other studios who give consumers a choice between itunes or ultraviolet and or the option to have the best of both worlds.

UV copies can be downloaded as saved files (standard digital copies). I've never done so but I see the option on Vudu or Flixster.
Unless your kids are huge sticklers for HD when watching things in the car, then the built in option to download would probably suit your needs.

Sort of. When you download it, your downloading an app for flixster. When you download it, the only way you watch the digital copies is through the app.

If I had it my choice, I'd prefer if you had the option of which type of digital copy you want to redeem like how it was in the Inception release.

There are 2 bonus discs right now: Wal-Mart and Target. Both DVD's.
