That´s exactly what I mean. The problem is "Hen´s Tooth".

If the rights were at Twilight or Kino Lorber, then I´d be very optimistic.

But they haven´t got the rights to release that Bronson movie.

I've been really curious about Walter Hill's Bronson flick Hard Times for a blind buy. It's sold out from Twilight Time so I'll have to go the third party route at a high price but it sounds like the film is right up my alley. Does anyone recommend watching it first before I decided on a blind buy?

It's one of Bronson's very best films IMO. Very good fight scenes and great supporting cast. If you like Bronson I don't think you can go wrong on this one.

I would say it's my favorite Bronson flick. Hopefully you'll love it like the rest of us.

I'm sure I will. It sounds similar in style to Walter Hill's amazing The Driver in terms of the character and I love boxing films.

Love The Driver as well. In fact looking at your avatar, when you have time try watching Drive then The Driver. I did that couple of years ago and pretended Ryan O'neil was an older Ryan Gosling. It felt like a sequel.

Yeah it's crazy how similar the resemblance is to Gosling and O'Neal with that character. That's a really interesting observation on the order of watching those and I'll definitely be doing that double feature very shortly.

The Driver is maybe the last OOP Twilight Time release I want. Haven't checked for overseas copies yet though. Even my Walter Hill love can't get me to buy Hard Times though, as I have zero interest in boxing.

If you like Most of Walter Hill's movies from the 70's through the mid 80's I would say that you would probably like this one also. It's not a 10/10, but I'd give a solid 8/10. It's pretty good. You can't go wrong with a Bronson/James Coburn combo. It's direct and minimalist like a lot of Hill's other films. It's right there with The Driver and 48 hrs. Bronson just does his thing without feeling that he owes explanations to anyone. Much like Ryan O'Neal's character in The Driver.

I wouldn't pay 60 bucks for it. But if you can get it for a more reasonable price you shouldn't feel cheated.

Awesome! Yeah I love Walter Hill along with Bronson and Coburn. I only buy films that I rate a 4/5 or higher so hopefully this will at least fall in the 4 category which I'm sure it will. 48 HRS is another Hill classic that I flat out love. I really hope Hill's original director's cut to Another 48 HRS sees the light of day on blu ray someday.

Yeah $60 was the cheapest it was available for on amazon.

Not much love here for my personal Bronson favorite, "Rider on the Rain", which Bronson is claimed to have said is his personal favorite performance as well.

I would pick up 10 to Midnight from Twilight Time while it's still available for anyone who hasn't seen that one yet. I think that one is pretty great as well.

The Italian release of the Driver is available quite cheap and is region free, it's a Universal / Studio Canal release.

And for anyone looking for Hard Times, Koch Media in Germany is releasing it in about a week. Probably will be region locked. It's not really a boxing movie though, Charles Bronson plays a bareknuckle brawler during the depression but the film focuses just as much on the world of conmen and gamblers in New Orleans as it does on the fights, probably more so. I would encourage you to at least give it a chance. I was a little apprehensive myself when I heard about the concept but once I watched it, it was a good watch that doesn't overstay its welcome.
