Is there anyone kind enough to help a fellow from Romania to get a copy of this movie in the 4K SteelBook edition (and maybe Leon too)?

Thanks in advance for any reply, and sorry if this had already covered and not seen by me (yet)!

Is this what you guys are talking about with edge enhancement? How can you verify this is actually EE? It's in every single master.
Yes, most of the movie looks a little sharpened like that. Mild edge enhancement halos or whatever you call it. Some say it's only on special effects shots but I feel like I saw it more often than that. Either way though the disc still looks gorgeous and super detailed, I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a HUGE pet peeve about edge enhancement.

P.S. The first paragraph of this site's review is hilarious. "UHD is super overrated and just makes most movies look darker." Uhhhh wha?

This seems pariculary hard to find. No joy at Walmart, Best Buy or Target in Burbank, or the Best Buy and Target on La Brea. Will keep looking...

Is the EE any worse on the UHD BD compared to the prior BD?

It's a little more obvious because of the higher res I think, yes. I didn't notice it too much on the BD, but I noticed it more on the UHD. I'm gonna watch a movie when I get off the forum though so if I remember I'll do an A/B comparison.

It's just the high-resolution and proper lighting values bringing it out more. As I showed in my posts the EE, probably due to effects of some sort, is basically just baked in to every master. You aren't going to ever eliminate it at this point unless there is something they have been missing for years upon years.

It's also on only on certain scenes like the blue alien lady.

Holy freaking crap. I just A/B'd The Fifth Element and had to come running back to the forum. I need to A/B more movies.

The UHD is a HUUUUUUGE improvement. Smokes the BD in every possible way (well, except one). The BD has this flat piss yellow look to it while the UHD comes alive with deep shadows, much more lifelike skin tones and amazing contrast. The extra detail is obvious in every section of the screen from the camel fur in chapter two to the spots on Willis' back in his apartment. This ain't no subtle upgrade. Good god and holy Jesus, I'm gonna go A/B some more discs I thought were subtle upgrades like Days of Future Past.

However yes, the sharpening on the special effects is slightly more obvious. Bummer.

Have you compared the UHD Blu to the Download? Color looks largely consistent with the MI4k Blu, along with--seemingly--better contrast on the latter:

Welcome to the A/B club! The doorman will take your coat, head to the bar and get yourself a drink on the house. Nothing too expensive, mind you.

Gonna watch this tonite...can't wait

While I agree with the sharpening, it never distracts for me and its insane how good this presentation is. I watched some scenes a second time and it just gets better and better, looking forward to rewatching the whole film again...

Yes the disc looks amazing! 5/5 out of 5 for video/audio. Still seeing that Amazon doesn't carry this at the moment which is interesting as this is a new release. Only available from marketplace sellers, I wonder what gives.

I was pretty excited early on when I first got real HDR up and running. I just got lazy and stopped comparing discs back and forth, so I got complacent about what an upgrade it really is. When you compare back and forth at the same time... wowzers. Good to be reminded all this money was for a good cause!

I don't think that comparison really shows the UHD look off at all. It's much more than a simple grain and subtle detail increase, it's a whole other ballgame. The UHD doesn't have that piss yellow look to it, first off.

Truthfully the answer is, we tell ourselves "the blu-ray looked 100x better than the dvd". Then when we watch the 4k without an A/B comparison our minds remember the blu-ray looking beautiful. I agree that a quick reminder using an A/B comparison shows what these discs are really made of. Anyone reviewing tbese discs should be referencing them. For a while I thought ehh it's a small upgrade that may not be necessary. Then you go scene for scene and appreciate the not so subtle differences.
