You just have to pretty them up a little bit. Paint the back of them black so they don't look like cheap particle-board surround stands. Add some fake or real plants or ivy down them and put your speaker in there where it's hidden but not obstructed. You do that and I think she'll probably complain about it a lot less. Another alternative is to try speaker stands that better match the size of the surrounds so they're a little more unobtrustive.

Try asking her what she doesn't like about them (if you dare) and you may be able to make them acceptable to both of you. My surrounds are honestly not where I'd like them but my wife doesn't want them on the wall, and this was our compromise. I still want to rig up some kind of simple stand to make them prettier, raise them up a bit more and make the wiring less obvious.

man,, she acts as if no one has surround.. her claim is " i had friends over,, and she and her husband asked ,, 'what are those',, i was so embarrassed".. i call BS but what can i do.. the speakers will stay in their current location.. but i would like to get either better stands.. or maybe do what you suggested. and get her involved in the process.

Yeah I have to say 6 months into purchase this sub continues to impress me for the price I paid. I watched the new star trek movie and everytime they went into warp I would get kicked in the chest, loved it

Is there any difference between the Premier Acoustic PA-12W and PA-120? I see that there is a size difference, but are the same price

I just bought the PA-120 for $223.65 shipped from SoundDistributors.com by using Bing.com/cashback.

Just ordered a PA-120 today. This will be my first ever sub. I am stoked. I picked this over the AA-sub12.

There was talk on the AA thread about adding polyfil and it seemed to be beneficial.

Not sure if I would add any but I had a curiosity about it. I did a search on this thread and found about 10 interesting posts. What I didn't find was whether the people that opened up the PA-120 thought there was the "suggested" 1 -1.5# of polyfil in it or could it possibly use some add'l. Thanks.

When you guys get your subs post or PM me and I'll add you to the list. Haven't been on as much so if I'm a bit slow I apologize.

I'm curious about the other PA sub- I have to look it up, but I'm betting that the smaller size means it's just simply not going to get as low- simple physics there. *edit* As I'm looking more at it, it seems to be their older model, back when they were trying to emulate the look of Klipsch's copper-colored speakers. I believe they changed that a few years ago. Chances are that subwoofer is a bit older but is probably pretty close to the same. I would still be wary of it unless you got a really great deal.

Watched Public Enemies, 9, Paranormal Activity, and 300 over the last few days and this sub continues to make me very happy. I would still recommend it for the budget-minded.

Hello Aramis', how are things going? I'm going to be ordering a 2nd PA-120 Sub THIS Friday (1/22/10) & hopefully won't have to wait 3-4 weeks like I did last August, when they were having some production issues. Luckily, I'm getting a great deal again now as I did then, so I hope it only takes 7-10 or so days for delivery. ---- I'll have to raise my end table Again to make room for it, as the PA-120 is at least 4+ inches taller than the Polk PSW-10 there now.

(Which means I'll be selling my POLK PSW-10 Sub if I can).

Congrats Aero, I would love to have two but I also do not want to walk around with 2 sneakers and one black boot. Every time the cops come to your door you'll be smiling at least.

--- Yea, I hear that. But it's not so much as for Louder Volume or anything, in as much as it will help even out things on the Low End Ever better than what I have currently.

Plus, I just checked: I already have THIS End Table from a few months ago that was used as a riser for Polk PSW-10, & it's 20" High. The PA-120 is 18.7" high so with the little 4x4 wood blocks I already have raising up the current end table, I can use them for the other one & be all set. I love when a plan comes together.

Ah, good choice. Many parts of that movie have good examples of LFE, esp. the ending. We shall see.

Default 2nd pa-120 ordered today!!

Arrived to work at 7:45, order placed for my 2nd PA-120 SUB by 7:55am!!

Eric from Sound Distributors emailed me yest. saying delivery should be in "about 5 days". I hope that is true so I can watch some Blus' next Friday & Most of Sunday (no NFL games) when I'll have plenty of time. I'm planning on starting a riser build tonite/Sunday (as I work tomorrow), & it'll be going in the same spot as my current "2nd" Sub, the POLK PSW-10, under my end table/left of my couch. I might have to change out that end table, as to Rise it up even more (see pic in my gallery HERE) would make the table itself too high or unstable perhaps. Luckily I already have a 20" table from Walmart that had been used as the old "Riser" if you will, for when I used 1 of my PSW-10's as the Front/Main Sub. That will work perfectly as the PA-120 is 18.7" Tall & the blocks I used to raise up the end table will work great with that, to raise it up a bit after I build the riser to go under it.

Now, the hard part of Waiting...
