A lot of ppl like Yojimbo quite a bit, so don't feel bad just because I think it's average. It's an important and influential film, and Mifune does a very good job. I just think it's pretty hokey and doesn't come close to being as good as Seven Samurai (what is?). I haven't seen Sanjuro, though.

8 1/2 is excellent and has arguably the hottest female cast ever. 400 Blows might be my favorite Criterion, I love it. Summer Hours I love as well, but that's because I love Paris, art, French films, and Binoche.

haha I was referring to your comment. I'm interested to see what you think of Hunger and Gomorrah--I haven't seen them but want to. Sanjuro I don't have much interest in seeing. Revanche I like quite a bit and watched for the second time last nite.

Have you seen 8 1/2? You do realize it's ranked the 5th greatest film of all-time? Inception will never even come close to approaching that accolade, sorry.
Hey im just quoting what Leonardo DiCaprio said thats all. In addition you never know, I bet it will always be in the top 10 on IMDB. Thats my site to rate movies. I like to be entertained, Confused and Rattled. Mostly every movie in the top 250 falls right into my category.

About the Oscars, its gonna win every technical for sure but it might win best picture, or director. The movie was sooo d8mn original.

Idk, I don't think she did anything wrong. I think that's what makes the film so good, is its realism. She was fickle and non-commital with him but then she found someone who she clicked with. That's what happens in life, oftentimes. You may think you're perfect for someone, but you're not. You may think you don't want a significant other but then you meet someone perfect.

It wasn't that original, even Nolan himself said he watched...shoot, I don't remember the movie, but Higgy and the others were talking about it a while back and said it was confusing I think...and thought "wow people are going to think I ripped that off"

Yes jhiggy, that's what I was referring to.

I've only seen Gomorrah and I love it, think I gave it 9/10.
The others you've listed I want to see as well.

Also, I don't think I implied that I was special and better than the "average viewer". I see myself as "all around" movie geek, I try to mix it up, maintstream movies can be good and often are great for entertainment. But also try to watch obscure, foreign, "boring and important", art movies and what have you.

Elitist film lovers are just as "" as average viewers who refuse to read subtitles and hate black bars.

I was a bit indifferent about the book when I read it a few months ago, and I'm even more indifferent about the film. I really don't think Scorsese handled the material that well--the pacing and mood were off.

I'll be honest--I have absolutely zero clue why people think the ending is ambiguous--it's not. It wasn't in the book, and although a slight change was made here, the movie is not.

Book:
[Show spoiler]The whole thing is a last ditch effort at saving Daniels. The book ends with Ruffalo's character shaking his head on the steps, acknowledging that Daniels reverted back to his delusions.

Movie:
[Show spoiler]The whole thing is a last ditch effort at saving Daniels. The film ends with Ruffalo's character shaking his head on the steps, acknowledgin that Daniels reverted to his delusions. He then goes and gets a transorbital lobotomy in the lighthouse, which is not something that happens in the book. The book makes it clear that the doctors were trying to help Daniels and that they didn't resort to those practices.

Overall, it's a decent film but the source material hampers it from being anything more than decent. Mystic River is a far superior film and book by the author.
This movie tore my head all up. I liked it allot 5/5 from this dude.
But i will mentioned why did they use a fake back screen when DiCaprio was driving with the warden That was poorly done, and very noticeable.

If you rate imdb that high, that's cool. I think their ratings are a joke, and objectively in terms of film history, they are. For entertainment and popularity purposes, the ratings are very good.

I'm sure it'll prob do well with the technical categories (both sound categories, maybe effects). I'm telling you right now, it's not going to win picture or director. It'll get nominated for picture solely because it's a well-reviewed hyped film and because for some reason ppl think TDK got snubbed (it didn't). He may get a director nod, but that depends on the films that come out later this year. I kinda doubt he will.

Yeah, example most older men are impossible because they been through everything in life so they think they know it all. In most situations they do "know it all" but new things happen that they cant relate to but you cant change their minds. They become "impossible"

It's the worst directing job I've seen from Scorsese. There were multiple issues throughout the film. Amateurish.

Bro i believe you but im pretty sure this was the first time allot of viewer ever seen anything like this. So for them its his creation.

Just like Avatar, many critics will mention its a rip off of "Dances with Wolves" But the average viewer just sees Cameron's Avatar.

As much as I try to keep the fanboys in check about the film, and try to make them see things realistically, I do look forward to the film. Love the cast and enjoy Nolan. If the film is even remotely like Marienbad, I'm in for a treat, but I don't see how it can be that similar, to be honest.
