I don't really need rumble since I have 1000watts of tactile feedback in my couch, but they often use it for neat gameplay mechanics (Metal Gear Solid, for example), so I hope it gets added back in.

How will the rumble differ from what we've had on the ps2?

Still a rumour that this exact same tech will actually be what's used in the new controller though.

It's BEEN in development, and it won't just be rumble.

Sony and Immersion will make this new controller count. Shame that litigation delayed its release but...

As far as I know, sony didn't include rumble in their controller because you appearently can't have tilt and rumble in the same machine, going more into detail, the company that supplys the rumble had a disagreement with sony about something so they didn't supply the rumble. Anyway, the last that I heard is that sony has a prototype controller, however because both rumble and tilt are in the same machine, battery life is an issue.

More rumbling controller rumours, the press conference has taken place but I haven't seen anything about updated controllers announced or even briefly mentioned but I'm still sifting through a lot of news.

The Gran Turismo website is currently down so we can't check that greyed out controller.

Rumble SixAxis goes to developers
Thursday 2-Aug-2007 8:36 AM Prototype rumble SixAxis going out to developers now, claim internet reports
22 Comments
Prototypes of the new rumble-enabled PS3 SixAxis controller have left SCE and been sent out to various Sony developers, reports Inner Bits.

The industry insider site says it expects the new controller will probably be announced in the next few months - on or around the dates of Leipzig Games Convention or Tokyo Game Show. We could've told you that without "industry insiders" though.

Going by Inner Bits' word, the new SixAxis is getting more updates than just vibration. Controller sensitivity issues have been adjusted, says the site, and Sony is "quietly replacing the original controllers" with the better hardware now.

Any early adopters (that's everyone on CVG) feeling a little bitter?

That's older news though, so far nothing's been mentioned of it after the Sony press conference.
