Default Enter your vote to bring Pink Floyd's "The Wall" to Blu-ray!

It was suggested by Josh that we start a new thread with included Poll to see how much interest there was in bringing this classic film to the Blu-ray format. The end of this year will mark the 30th Anniversary of its release and it is still as popular and in demand as ever before.

I would like all visitors to this thread to vote in the poll and help in bringing this title to Blu-ray as soon as possible. The more votes we have, the better our chances of making an impact to the right people and put pressure on them to make this happen.

Hey teacher... Leave those kids alone! The wall is probably one of the gratest albums of all time along side The Beatles revolver and Nirava's Nevermind. Dang I just made it obvious how old I am

Voted 'Yes' too. Huge Pink Floyd fan, so everything that can come out on Blu-Ray has to come out . Not that there's that much material out there, but the 30th Anniversary of the album should get it a release. Plus the original concert footage that Roger Waters has been sitting on for way too long.

well I voted but with 35 votes total I'm not sure how much of an impact we will have

I had this on VHS, have it on DVD and will pick it up in a heart beat on blu.

I've been trying to bump it from time to time and agree that it will take many more votes, but I'm gonna keep plugging away at it.

So whomever is reading....VOTE!

Thank you,

John

It's coming!

Quote recently from James Guthrie:

"I will be doing a 5.1 mix of The Wall for release on SACD, but we don't have a planned release date for that yet. The original multitrack tapes are in pretty bad shape, so the project will take some time. I'm currently working on a Blu-ray release of 'The Wall' Movie"

He also said this, when asked if there were plans to release Live at Pompeii on BD:
Quote:
Some years ago, Adrian Maben and I had many conversations about that very thing. We made some good progress, but ran into budget problems. The Floyd do not own the rights to 'Live at Pompeii', so they do not have their usual level of influence over it. Don't hold your breath, but I am hoping we can come back to that one in the future.

I was never too fond of the film, don't get me wrong Pink Floyd is my favorite band ever but to me the album is a classic the way it is. I was never a fan of the re-recordings of some of the songs for the film. For example I always hated In The Flesh? from the film. But anyways i would still love to see this on blu-ray, it would be a nice upgrade.

Pompeii on the other hand. I would give anything to see this on Blu. To me my favorite Pink Floyd era. The kinda weird phase they went through between Syd Barrett to the classic Dark Side/WYWH era that everyone loves.

Echoes from Pompeii is magic.

I love anything Pink Floyd and this album alone is a work of art. The movie they created for it is absolutely breath taking. I've never listened to any of the songs off the wall the same again since watching this movie. Best believe I'm voting yes on this. My blu ray collection won't be complete until I own this title.

Had to settle for the Roger Water’s The Wall BD, which I just recently bought and watched. Added my vote just now for The Wall.

Would love either a Blu-Ray Audio of The Wall OR the movie. Both would be devine (as a box set). One can dream...

If Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here can get Blu-Ray audio box sets, The Wall deserves it as well. Although I am biased, while Dark Side has a universal theme, The Wall just beats DSM as my fave PF album. I love the semi-autobiographical nature, the darkness and personal introspection in The Wall. While it has themes that are quite specific, they can also be viewed more universally. I’m sure most individuals can empathise with many components of the themes found in The Wall. Another great album that shines a light on what we all share in common, i.e. the human condition.

Got my vote. I am Floyd fanatic. My dad took me to see The Wall at the Empire Leicester Square on its release. I was 14. It blew me away. I have the special edition DVD and would love a blu release of this and Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Though I have a decent BD-R of an HD broadcast rip, I still would love to see a legit blu-ray release from a 4K remaster or something, complete with maybe a Dolby ATMOS upgrade.

Question

I'm surprised by a few things here...

1) How very few people have voted on this.

2) That some people actually voted against it!

3) That after all these years, there's still no 'Pink Floyd - The Wall' on BluRay!!!

Why???!!! Why hasn't it?

When???!!! When will it?

I'd love to see this as a 'Criterion Collection' Blu-ray. It deserves that deluxe treatment.
