You say that now. I guess you'll only buy the theatrical Lord of the Rings also, huh.

We have no right to complain about the altered versions if they keep buying them.

I'll stick with the crap-quality DVDs of the originals for now. We're VERY lucy to get even those.

I have no problem with Lucas releasing altered versions. They can be fun, and there are a few things that actually are improvments....
But I have a HUGE problem with trying to wipe the originals off the face of the earth.

Peter Jackson released extended editions of LotR, but you can still buy the theatrical editions if you want to.

Correct. I did think it was a little funny that they decided to beef up the Han and Luke figures, but my laughter turned to stunned silence when I noticed that they gave Yoda some little biceps...

sad part, is he knows it too!!!

all he has to do is look @ the sales of all of the past editions he's released and know if he does it again on blu-ray, he'll get exactly what he wants!!!

oh well...i'm in the same boat!!

that's because peter jackson doesn't hate the theatricals...lucas originally intended the originals to be more like the SE's and when he had the technology to make them that way, he did. it does suck for us viewers, but he's the director, and if you made a movie that you were never happy with and finally had the chance to make it the way you wanted, wouldn't you do the same?

Dude, stop saying that crap! He has lied in like 20+ interviews over the years! He did not intend for the Originals to be like they are now back in 1977, 1980 and 83! My god your buying that? He has contridicted himself left and right over the years. The bottom line is he jacks with them BECAUSE HE HAS THE TECHNOLOGY and HE CAN. Not to mention the whole Marsha thing.....

nobody cares what he can do now...he owes it to film history and his loyal (ORIGINAL) fans to give us the unaltered originals. Just like Speilberg did with E.T! He gave us his jacked up version as well as the original!

God I would love for Jackson to go back in 10 more years and totally jack with his Rings films....then I could listen to all the Rings nerds cry for a change!

ok, well, think what you wish...not sure why you're actually frustrated about it he'll release whatever editions he wants to release, and regardless of the reason behind it, that will be that. my opinion comes from friends who know him and that's the opinion i believe. it may be wrong and that's cool, but it's my own view of the matter.

He doesn't owe it to anyone. You paid your money, you saw your movies.

It didn't give you a stake in the rights.

Of course, even though Lucas is going to make changes and say these are the way he always envisioned the movies, it won't be his vision long. He'll make a few more changes a few years later, even more a few years after that, and so on, until he dies. His original vision (if you can even call it such) is gonna change every few years. Period.

no period? who knows if he'll touch them up again...as far as we know, he isn't going to. of course that could change, but i dont think anyone on here can definitively state that "this is what it is."

Anyone that doesn't like George Lucas' idea of Star Wars can go make their own versions. I'm not a huge fan of the movies in general, but they're his and he can do what he wants with them.

Do these same people go to concerts and get mad if the artist doesn't play the song exactly like it sounded on the CD? They're raping your childhood too, by playing their songs the way they want to play them.
