I can't believe left 4 dead 2 will appear a year later. If you think 10 hours is short, try 3-4 on co-op than games ends abruptly,No thanks, I've learned my lesson. I'll wait until this sequel hits $20 used. It was fun the 1st time I played through with AI as here is where you can take your time but the AI was severly flawed but the moment you go online than........
You assault my eyes and my brain with your bad grammar.

While its true there is alot of FPSs not all of them are good. L4D is a awesome game and I would like to see it come to the PS3. I would probaly still own it on the 360 but, I know alot of people here would enjoy it.

Goldeneye was made by Rareware, long before CryTek was a glimmer in the Yerli's eyes.

HL2 (including its Ep 1 & 2) is a good game, but isn't really what I'd call "revolutionary". It does some neat things with in-game storytelling and a fairly capable engine but not very much beyond that. Valve did try very hard to make it so - they pushed their Source engine as middleware for the next generation of FPS games, but the industry did not bite, and instead moved on to Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3.

Portal, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead are all excellent products in their own right, and I've nothing bad to say about any of them, but the level of innovation isn't really any higher than other good FPS developers (Bungie, Epic, id, etc.)

Well, in Half-Life 2, the gameplay shows you that you can fully interact with the objects around you; pick them up, throw it at one of the Combine soldiers, or just use them as projectiles with the gravity gun. That's called innovation and interactivity, and that's smart thinking for Valve.

Oh, the Gravity Gun is a neat toy and a fascinating mechanic. But there's not exactly a preponderance of games out there that suddenly have gravity guns (the closest rivals being the telekinesis power in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed), so again - great and interesting games, yes. Trend-setting, no.

We're talking about first-person shooters here, not third-person action games. Until Half-Life 2, you can't pick up objects and use them as projectiles in FPS's. That's why it's revolutionary.

Valve won't release anything on PS3 for the next 3 to 8 years minimum.
If you think 10hours of gameplay is short, L4D was a staggering 3-4 hours.
It is therefore not worth the price of a full game, and he will wait that the sequel hits the $20 bargain bin before making the same mistake (aka buying it).
I happen to share his opinion btw.

HL1 was revolutionary.

HL 2 was a logic step forward, and Portal a very refreshing surprise.

L4D is a scam, with good multiplayer, and L4D 2 is likely to follow in the same vein.
Only worth it on PC at discounted price imo, waiting for a decent -full- game aka a HL3 or so (not HL2 episode 3, which is content for HL2. Waiting for it impatiently this being said -on pc-).

Unless you know of another game that features the same mechanic, then it remains the only game where you can do so. Hence why I said it's not trend-setting.

It's hard to claim that any similar power in the star wars universe came from Valve though, as the movies had the power 20 years before Half-Life 2 did.

Bioshock was released three years after Half-Life 2 was released, so that doesn't count.

Uhh, I was using Bioshock as an example game that came *after* Half-Life 2.

Yeah, but the games didn't. Not that I recall, anyway. I know in Dark Forces II you could electrocute people, but I can't remember if you could lift and throw objects at them.

You had the telekinesis powers in Dead Space as well.

First off nice translation. Second Left 4 Dead is a online multiplayer co-op game first, single player second. It can be said that it is short and a scam, but it pretty much has limitless replayability.

The Star Wars Jedi Knight games had "Pull" and "Throw" as Jedi Powers, which are the same concept if held back technically. /shrug

Speaking for myself I got bored very quickly with online play. Versus could have saved it but I never found a game where people were playing "Legit" and not doing blatantly broken things. By the time Valve released a patch that fixed most of it I was disinterested in going back to try it again, so it may be better now.

I do feel Left 4 Dead 2 shouldn't exist, it should be one of the patches Valve promised for L4D1 which never actually showed up.

The problem with L4D are:
1) lack of teamwork
2) lack of mic usage
3) more lack of teamwork

Your experience goes to abysmal when playing random online, teamwork is the glue that holds your life in the balance or you can enjoy the game over screen.
