For all intents and purposes, Jack Sparrow is a drunk homeless person.

The Titanic is not only overrated it is a complete turd. It is beyond me how this movie won Academy Awards and Pearl Harbor is put down. They both are in the same league of SUCK!!!!

Serenity

To see the nerd 'gasms over this thing. Not to mention it's utter box office failure and red ant worship.

Y'know, I've just thought of a good range of overrated movies...any movie directed by Michael Bay. All his movies are is all glitz and no glamour.

That or because Francis Ford Copolla, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and James Caan are at their prime. As well as a genius & groundbreaking storyline by Mario Puzo.

...and to a lesser extent Cloverfield (It was only hyped up by trailers and buzz, no one that actually saw it tried telling me it was awesome)
It's a Wonderful Life cannot be over rated, it was a fill in movie during Christmas time that bloomed into one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. There is something wrong when you think a movie of that level of greatness is over rated. The others you listed, it is all a madder of taste and I cannot disagree with you. But, It's a Wonderful Life.....Come'on.

Well if you wanna talk about a overhyped movie it has to be Spider-Man 3 it got all that hype and it sucked and thats comin' from a die hard spider-man fan, now if were talkin' overhyped Blu-ray its either I, Robot or No Country for Old Men IMO

Box office failure would tend to make it impossible for something to be overrated.

Overrated by who?

Overrated because it was on HD DVD? Come on, that's taking war bitterness to an even more ridiculous level.

If I had to pick an overrated film I'd go with Transformers as well. Horrible horrible acting, made worth watching once due to special effects and suspense. Once you know what's coming, and have seen the effects, the rest of it starts to sink in.
