LOL to all that support that argument I refer them to the following:

Temple of Doom: Is it just me or did Indy and the gang jumped off an airplane IN A LIFERAFT with no parachute fell on a mountaintop, went off a cliff and survived?

Temple of Doom: The entire mine cart sequence. Need I say more?

Across The Universe: I can never give this movie a fair shot, good or bad, simply because of the artsy girls (specifically, one girl) who annoyed the shit out of me during my first viewing of the trailer. Saw it during Spiderman 3 and this one girl with a group of us was freaking out the whole time and eventually declared it the "best movie ever."

Transformers 2: I feel as a loyal Batman supporter last summer that this movie is somehow competition, and I was glad to see it get shit reviews because I always found the first one overrated (yet I own it on BD, still not sure why).

Twilight: We watched the baseball scene and it was so very stupid and lame. It actually disappoints me when female friends of mine admit to LOVING this movie, far too trendy and easy.

And had to add and repeat what has already been said...

The Dark Knight: I love this rebooted franchise and still really enjoy Batman Begins (I'll have to wait a few years to make a comparison), but I can see how people are annoyed with the fanbase (that I was apart of last summer). Months later, I reflected that it was not infact the greatest movie ever and had flaws. The Oscar freakout was enough to make me just embarassed to be a fan of the movie.

there's no movie i simply hate because of fans. if i like or dislike a movie, it's because of factors based solely on the movie's production (story, casting, acting, cinematography, music, etc), not public appeal or fanbase. that being said, there are a great many movies where the hysteria of crazed fans all over the world and internet has turned me off from wanting to see a movie (harry potters come to mind), but has never really prevented me from doing so

It's not a philosophical thing. I hate plenty of teams (cough --- Florida Gators --- cough) and musical acts because of their fans.
Florida Gators... Shit....you got that right

I wouldn't say I hate a movie because of its fans. Due to the sometimes rampant lunacy of the fanbase I do however refrain (now) from discussions of:
Star Wars
Star Trek
Transformers
Dark Knight
directors
actors

basically I rarely post in this section of the board *cough* signature *cough* because many simply cannot understand how someone else can disagree with them without being incompetent, an idiot, not a film lover etc...

I am gonna say LOTR. I like the movies, but the following they have gained is a little ridiculous. The scene from Clerks II sums up my feelings pretty much exactly. And the fact that a documentary came out on the fans barely after the movies had been all released is ridiculous(Ringers).

All I have to say is that it must suck to be a Fanboy (or girl). They are never happy and always seem to be complaining about something. Just let it go, accept the faults for what they are, and enjoy!

I agree with TDK, there's just something about popular movies that turn you off liking them so much, I think its the threat of being unoriginal.

I hate a particular movie because I hate that particular movie. The fans of said movies do not affect my opinion of a movie one iota. I'm sure every movie has some sort of douchebag following.

Actually I think this thread proves a point I've always made. Some people will hate things simply because other people love it.

Then of course there is my signature.

You can name a lot of the films for this. I like all of these movies but Fight Club and Twilight. Sorry thought Fight Club was boring and Brad Pitt mumbles too much in all his movies and it annoys me. Twilight just plain out sucked. No excuse for theat sparking turd of movie.

Star Trek ( People take it seriously like a religon)
Star Wars (My Friends can ruin these movies by incorporating everything in life to Star Wars. Yes they actually do this.)
Lord of The Rings (Fantasy role playing people that actually believe these movies are real)
Fight Club (Macho guys that think they are Brad Pitt or Edward Norton. They even try to start their own "Fight Club")
The Matrix (Most fans this is "The Real" Sci Fi trilogy)
The Dark Knight (People believe this is the greatest movie ever created.)
Twilight ( The fans believing this is how love should be. Enough said.

My favorite movie tied with Snatch is The Dark Knight but the fans are complete morons, bunch of kids playing fanboys. For example there was one time in the IMDB forums that one guy was very mad complaining about the innaccuracy of the IMDB rating and saying that Slumdog Millionaire shouldn't be in the top 250 so (here's the punch line) he asked everyone to put Slumdog Millionaire a rating of 1. Wow, just wow. All of this started because Slumdog was better at the oscars than TDK.

what i hate the most is not the rabid fanbases of these movies that make them out to be the BEST THING EVER OH MY GOD!!! but rather the fact that when you hear that stuff so much leading up to actually seeing the film yourself, which i especially relevant to me because i dont like to sit in really crowded theaters on release night to miss half the movie because of people yelling and screaming in the theater, it makes those kinds of movies a bit of a letdown because they are good, but nowhere near as good as fanboys/girls make it out to be

if i had to pick one in particular though, the dark knight stands out for me, i read so much about people going to the theater to see it 6,7 or more times, and then go 100 miles to see it in IMAX a few times too, and how it should win every single award ever, when i finally saw it, i was just kinda meh afterwards, it was good, but i think all the hype surrounding it brought it down for me a little

Dude, That discussion led to an argument with my father that in itself led to us not talking to each other for two years! All because he thought that LOTR and The Da Vinci Code were based on real things.

New Star Trek... I liked it, but it's so different from the other movies, I don't see how you can say the others weren't as good. They're entirely different types of movies! Yet that's exactly what the fanboys do.

I'll also 100th Twilight...

Requiem For A Dream and Trainspotting... Everyone seems to love these two movies, and I tell fans of the movies that I didn't like them... They go insane. Maybe I have something about drug addiction plots that I don't like, but in both movies I felt nothing for any of the characters. Fanboys love at least Requiem because they feel for the characters, apparently.

Not a movie but Tim Tebow. I'm so sick of the media shoving him down our throats and anointing him the greatest college player ever (no f'n way!).
