That goes for other players who are suspended as well, should they be allowed to play during their current suspensions?

For instance, if the Star Caps hearing holds up and the Williams Wall is suspended, should the individual controlling the Vikings have to bench them for 4 games?

I don't think we should worry about suspended players. Since we can trade we will already end up with different rosters than the NFL so I don't see the need to apply suspensions to mimic the NFL season. That and I'm playing as the Bengals, so I'm sure I'll have 5 players arrested and suspended by season end.

1. No hurry up/audible offense. (If your on a drive in the last few minutes of the 2nd quarter and down, or you're getting smoked and down by 28 going into the 4th...sure, other than that you don't run it.)
2. No DE, DT, LB movement to the far outside. You keep your defensive players where they are at. You can move then wide or inside, but you cannot move them far out to rush around that LT or RT for an easy go at the QB.
3. Money plays: If you never run the ball, you don't use Play Action to set up a bomb or run it every other play because you have Randy Moss or Fitz. Mix up your plays and try to refrain from using your basic 5 or 6 plays. This is a SIM league.
4. MICS ON: I've noticed when in a SIM league, if you get someone without a MIC chances are...they're going to use basic "cheese" skills. And honestly, this burns me alive. You can see in the NCAA thread how I can't stand gamers who use these types of tactics just to win.
5. Defense: Nano blitz, press coverage, lockdown defense. Try to refrain from using the same defensive plays over and over again to shut down your opponent. Just like on offense, mix up your defensive play calling. I love the 3-4 and the zone blitz, but you don't run the same blitzing scheme all game because you know that RT can't handle your OLB coming off the edge.

These are just a basic set of guidelines I've seen in other leagues, though there are plenty more as well. Something to build on I suppose.
any SIM players knows not to move the dline people presnap unless using in game shifts.

I added it to our rules, just in case. That was the only one I found useful, because I've actually seen that disputed in other leagues, saying that it's realistic if you take a linebacker outside to shadow somone off the line and than come with a wide angled blitz. Unfortunately, Madden's AI doesn't compensate for that at all, so it's really cheesing, but one is able to make a valid arguement to use it.

Most real players wouldn't do this, but unfortunately, there are those out there that try to bend the rules to gain an upper hand.

Yeah...you'd be surprised. That's why I always make sure my opponent has a MIC. If they don't, I just won't play them anymore. I've been in plenty of SIM leagues to know there is always that "ONE" player who thinks he can do what he wants to do, use no MIC and do the "old school" Madden tricks and get away with it. It makes the game horrible.

the league(s) need to lay down the law with this bs

the madden 10 SIM league is running about 3-4 tourneys before our league starts (we start the same day)
so if you guys want i will create one big tournament bracket with BOTH leagues included so we can all play eachother and share ideas.

its just an idea so everyone can get to know eachother and possibly have people double dip into both leagues.

the best part is BOTH leagues will require sim gameplay which is the key to any successful league

What would you think about setting up a thread for said tournaments, and allow individuals to play with whatever teams they want. This would allow us to achieve the goal of seeing who's a cheeser and who isn't, and also allow players who are in both leagues to play with just one team.

We just need to compile a list of every player in both leagues and than create a tournament.

OOPS! Thanks jarth, I feel badly taking your team considering your organizing the league. I assure you that I do love THE PACK.

I think everthing you've suggested to this point in regard to rules and gameplay sounds terrific.

I would vote for All-Pro.

Whew, I finally got through all of the posts...you guys have been really busy brainstorming. There are a lot of good ideas forming, leading me to believe this league should be a lot of fun.

In years past I have become very skeptical of online play due to the ridiculous way many users play the game. I have always believed in playing with integrity. It is great to see people who are setting up leagues with this in mind. I am already participating in caliblue's NCAA 10 league, and so far I am very impressed with the league, and those participating.

Keep up the good work jarth!

I have played in online leagues in the past and they were ok. I just really love the franchise aspect, as it give you something to play for even if you aren't the super bowl winner. That's why I like the online dynasty in college.
