Artest said blame him if the Lakers fail to win a title in 2010.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4493238 Fair is fair, I won't blame it solely on him if we fail in 2010. It has to be a team "efforts", IMO. Either way, good luck and play hard, Ron. |

Bynum has to put up or shut up this year for LA. After signing that huge contract, he really hasn't proven anything, other than the fact that he can foul anyone, anywhere, at any time. Maybe Ron-Ron will light a fire under his ass and help him unlock his potential.
really, there's no reason to play the Western Conference playoffs. There isnt a single team out West than can seriously challenge the Lakers this year. Everyone makes a big fuss about the Spurs getting Jefferson....athletic wings weren't what really what killed them last year. Age and injuries to two of their three best players and a crappy, decrepit bench is the reason. I can't see Duncan and Ginobili magically getting healthy again and playing like their former selves. The only teams I can see challenging LA are Portland, Houston, and Denver. That's it. And even with those teams, it will take a miracle to beat LA four times in seven games. |

I hope you're right. NYC is starving for a legitimate hoops superstar. It will take the biggest, balls-to-the-wall campaigning blitz (and a shitload of dough) to get LBJ to leave his beloved city, though. We also have to hope and pray that Jordan Hill and Gallinari turn out to be nice players. Gallo has shown he can definitely ball; we were a .500 ballclub when he played (14-14), and he has a super-sweet stroke. Jordan doesnt have to be a 25 and 12 guy (would be nice), but if he can at least become a serviceable, solid PF/C, around 18 and 9, that would be fantastic. If all of those factors come together, then you add in a megastar like Lebron and a players coach like D'antoni, and you have a recipe for success.

Cleveland can offer the most money, so it won't come down to salary. I read a rumor about a week ago that the Knicks (or more specifically Cablevision) was going to give Lebron his own channel, although it didn't specify what would be on it. I would be surprised if Lebron went to New York. He wants to win a title and New York doesn't have the players to make that happen. The salary cap is going to drop significantly so they won't be able to afford 2 max players, and they don't have a first round pick. I would guess Lebron stays in Cleveland, D Wade stays in Miami or goes to Chicago, and the Knicks end up with Amare and Chris Bosh.

well we cant sign two max players in 2010, but Curry and Jefferies come off the books the following season in 2011, when we'll have even more cap room to sign another top tier player to compliment Lebron. Look, we won 32 games with no star power whatsoever, in a season of transition and learning, topped off with a major injury to our youngest, most promising prospect. This year I'm hoping for 40 wins and a playoff spot. You add in Lebron, and this team wins 55+ off the bat.
and if its really about winning a title, would he fare THAT much better in Cleveland beyond this season? Danny Ferry has screwed their cap to the point where if Lebron signs back for the max, thats it. They wont be able to afford a max free agent. He'll have to win with that band of bums. At least in NYC, he'll be growing with a franchise that has cap flexibility (gasp!) and a young nucleus that will only continue to improve. Cleveland, as constructed, is as good as they're going to get. Last edited by MCT; 09-23-2009 at 04:12 AM. |
