I love Americans, couldn't eat a full one though

I think you could have a "Blu-ray disk". You could have Blu-ray files dumped on to a disk and play them back as a virtual drive (BD-ROM). Yes, the correct term for pressed media is disc but hey, it's only a bit of tech

BTW, the UPC for the "DVD + Blu-ray" (we know which market they're going for!) is 883904216551. It appears to have a pan and scan DVD with extras. I've read (and this is where I got a bit mixed up) people saying they got a plain P&S DVD from some B&M stores.

Wow, got my disc. 2 security stickers, seals, cellophane, environmentally friendly (read: crap case which doesn't protect the contents and is designed and thought-up by overpaid ****ing idiots).

Opened it and yes, the DVD is the 40th with these contents:

Cover:

Review of the 40th/Blu-ray:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Gr...ay/323/#Review
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcompare/graduate.htm

You'd think with all the annoying packaging they'd make an effort to mention the extras. Bunch of lazy uncaring idiots. I hope Warner get MGM's back catalogue.

This gets a release in Europe soon and the film's owner -StudioCanal- will hopefully get their packaging right (they always do).

Very pleased with my USA release but would of appreciated some accurate packaging obviously.

Thanks again for the comments from everyone

Thanks for that menu screen cap, as even this site's review doesn't explicitly mention the "One On One With Dustin Hoffman" and "THE GRADUATE at 25" featurettes.

Anyone purchased this recently from Amazon and still get the 40th anni DVD?

Is it me or is there some weird glitch at about 10'15 in? Like a horizontal line going across about 1/4th way up the picture. It just appears for a couple of frames then is gone. It definitely seems to be something with the transfer/master, and not a problem with the disc itself. I wonder if this is "print damage", or just poor quality control to let a glitch like that slide into production. It doesn't really look like print damage that you usually see though, so I'm kind of wondering....

I have the DVD/Blu combo released in 2011. If it's on this it's PROBABLY on the original release as well. Just thought I'd ask and see if anyone else notices this.

So what are the differences between the 2009 and 2011 versions? I know the 2009 Blu-ray includes the DVD, but did the 2011 Blu-ray include the same bonus features as the ones found in the 2009 Combo Pack? What's all this talk about a 40th Anniversary DVD and a 1999 DVD?

Sorry if I'm dredging up an old thread, but this is the only thread I could find targeting The Graduate ... and I wasn't sure if I should be creating a new one.

I'm wondering if I have a version of The Graduate that is different from most on the market. I bought it on Amazon.com a long time ago and first got around to watching it yesterday. The version I bought is a single disc that does not have any extras on it at all (unless a trailer counts). The UPC code is 0 27616 07706 6 80. I'm not sure what year the pressing was done but the packaging design date on the back says 2010. Here's a link to an exact photo of the back's artwork: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-G...Blu-ray/30999/ (You need to click on the "Back" link under the slip cover picture).

Personally, I don't think it's the greatest looking transfer. But what bugs me the most is that the film is censored. I know the nudity in this film is brief, but on this version, it's completely either "airbrushed" out or cut out altogether.
[Show spoiler](In the scene where Mrs. Robinson has her top off, there's this very weird, rapid-flash-cut-thing going on ... I'm having trouble finding words to describe it ... like a strobe light effect ... quick flashes [no pun intended] where the nudity is cut up ... or out. Very bizarre! and I think some of the dialogue was cut up in that scene too.)
What the heck is up with that??? It makes me wonder how much else might have been altered on this version. Who knows ... maybe some of the dialogue was messed with in other places too. ???

So does anybody else have this version? Or did anybody else notice the same things? Are there uncensored versions out there? Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean...even on the old DVD the nudity is quick flashes. It is not cut out or cut down, it's meant to be displayed in flashes, because Ben is trying not to look at that point.

In hindsight, I'm sorry for writing that. I could have *sworn* that shot had more nudity than just quick flashes, but after doing a search on the internet, I couldn't find anything to support my thoughts. Maybe I'm thinking of a still picture I saw in a magazine or something. ??? Or maybe it's what I thought/wished I remembered seeing as I was probably barely a teenager when I first saw the movie.
[Show spoiler](EDIT: FWIW, In case anybody's wondering, I'm a few decades past being a teenager now).
Nevermind ... sorry for wasting some bandwidth.

Ordered a used copy on Amazon Marketplace of the BD+DVD after confirming with the seller before purchase that it included the 40th anni DVD. Was surprised to find that it does not say "BD + DVD" on the cover. This may hardly be news but I was not aware Fox had released some BD+DVD combo packs without that verbiage on the front cover. I of course prefer it without it.

I think the first run was generally lacking that banner. I wouldn't mind it if they hadn't reversed the colors (it'd look like the usual "combo pack" banners if it were silver text on blue backdrop).

I just finished watching MGM Blu-ray of The Graduate. Shame on me for having never seen this movie before today, because it's quite an amazing movie that I would loved to have seen during those listless months back in 1996 that I spent living with my parents while I was looking for a job after my college graduation.

I love the visual style of The Graduate, and the odd approach of placing characters against bright backgrounds (white walls, aquariums, etc.) while still maintaining a deadened appearance to the proceedings. It's such an odd flick when viewed in present-day, but it's a shining example of how cinema was pretty adventurous back in the late 1960s.

I'm not qualified to compare the picture quality to any previous formats, because this was my first viewing of the movie, but I think that the Blu-ray transfer is pretty cool-looking.

I just got The Graduate blu ray/dvd new for 3.99 plus tax from my local grocery store . It says Movies U Buy on the back. My question is this. I really want the special features that are supposed to be included on the dvd disc but the back of the package just says: Disc one blu ray includes: Full length feature Film, Lossless Audio , Smart Menu Technology and Disc two includes: Full length Feature film in standard definition, Audio 5.1DTS, 5.1 Dolby Surround and Subtitles. There is no mention of any special features on the dvd disc. From reading the posts here it looks like some people who picked this up when it first came out got the dvd with the 40th anniversary special features and others just got the dvd with no special features. The front of my blu ray does not say blu ray & dvd but the back lists them both as included. It does say it's widescreen in 2.35:1 and the year is listed as 2009. Realize that 3.99 is still a good price for both a blu ray and dvd copy of the film but wish I knew if the special features are on the dvd before opening the package. I love special features and do not buy blu rays without them. If anyone has bought this same one from Movies you Buy and could provide som insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for responding. Feel like a fool since I did as you said, just checked the dvd and it comes with all the special features. Feel I was very fortunate and very happy to have gotten this at such a great price.
