I have never seen these before and my copy didn't come like this. Got it at Best Buy and the Digital Copy disc is on the left side not a recycling symbol.

I think the complaints of the cases stem more from people hating change as opposed to actual concern that a disc will be scratched

I don't prefer them either but because i know the studios are saving money on them but still charging the same for the disc, if they were passing the saving onto the consumer i wouldn't have a problem with it

Some people go crazy when they don't get a slipcase. Some folk arrange their cases by design (elites, amaray, etc etc) and take everything about the package very seriously.

Honestly I'm in the hate crowd. I feel a case around before I buy it, just to be sure. If its' eco, back on the shelf. Regardless if you throw your cases around or treat them immaculately, eco cases are of lower build.

And they're ugly!

I like when the blu-rays have artwork inside them, like all the sony and disney movies. I wish all the studious would do this b/c it just looks a lot nicer

Default the stupidity....

I really hope all the studios switch over to these eco cases so the people who bug out and get paranoid about an eco case magically scratching a blu ray disc which has a scratch proof coating on will stop buying blu rays. It just shows how stupid you are.

I mean the poster here is not gonna get xmen because it comes in an eco case? WOW.... you and the people whinning about this REALLY need to get laid badly!

OP should post a warning about the movie itself, instead of the box

I got a couple eco-cases. And you know what I found out?

The movie still plays the same.

The case still still sits on the shelf the same.

Sorry but have much more important things in life to worry about rather than if the 'inside' is all there or not.

My $.02

my buddy bought Ninth Gate on blu from walmart... didn't realize it was in this stupid packaging and had a small boxcutter scratch through the plastic right on the disc... How stupid to sell a case that DOESN'T PROTECT... case? isn't that the definition

The eco-cases are a clear cost-cutting maneuver under the disguise of marketing. The studios are under tremendous pressure to cut marginal costs. But they will stop these tactics if it starts affecting sales. I, for one, am simply avoiding buying these titles that have these cases. I will be importing my copy from Europe, where this particular madness has yet to spread.

The eco - cases are not "recycled" as far as I know.

Still.... they don't bother me at all. If polar bears survive for a few more years with these holes in the cases then I'm all for it.

Curious...... before I bury this silly rant with the rest of the eco-case mumbo-jumbo out there.......

IS THIS REFERRING TO THE BOX, or are we actually talking about eco-cases here..... it sounded like the OP was talking about the "boxed set" or outer case that they cases go in etc.....

Am I wrong on this?

I think he was too, he just called it a recycled box because the international recycling symbol is punched into the front of it

wow some people get way to worked up about a stupid case I have several eco cases and none of mine have scratched they sit on a shelf like a normal case. What do you people dp with your blu-rays throw them around like kids? sit on them? scratch them purposely? Why get so worked up blu-rays dont scratch easily and this type of case does not change that. People get so worked up about cases its crazy. I remember this happening over the color of the case when the new Incredible Hulk came out... ok thats all I have to say about the cases now the movie it looks fantastic on blu-ray

I couldn't care less about the packaging. What I would like to see from Fox is quality filmmaking. They are the worst of the big studios by far. This wasn't always the case.

I guess if people want to forego great films because there are holes under the art that you can't see anyway, then whatever. They will be missing out on a lot of great movies. I hope all cases go eco so those people can save lots of money and get another hobby.
