I recently bought the UK release and I was pleased with the results. It is by no means close to perfect, with the audio lacking more than the video, but it still does not detract from the experience while watching this wonderful film.

I certainly agree. The transfer does have a few waxy faces and some unnatural grain from time to time, but these instances are rather brief. Since most of the film is dialogue the lossy audio is not a big deal, but there are some lacking LFE moments that need that lossless component.

Yeah, the German HD DVD and BD are the best, but they are difficult to find and if you do find it expect it to cost a pretty penny.

You'll like it. IMHO it's the best foreign film made in the last decade.

I personally am willing to pay a bit more when I know I am getting a better Blu-ray.

I picked up the UK version from Amazon.uk for $14. As has been previously mentioned, it's not a perfect Blu-ray but I am pleased.

It is a terrific film.

Okay ... maybe a silly question ... but how can you tell if the release is UK or German or Canadian? I know enough to look at the text on the cover, but is there another way? I'm curious. Thanks in advance.

Other than looking at the cover yourself the only way you can tell is to order it from the respective Amazon sites. The UK version from amazon.co.uk, the DE version from amazon.de, etc.

Thanks. Looks like I bought the UK release. I should know for sure upon delivery within the next couple of days.

EDIT: FWIW, I received my bluray in the mail and it is indeed the UK release.

Has anybody got the Canadian release? Really curious to know how the picture is. Can't believe there still isn't a complete version of this film on BD with non-DNR'd video and no lossy audio. Maybe this is the version we've been waiting for...?

Does the Canadian version have the English-language commentary that was on the American Sony DVD? The features list on the back seems to suggest it doesn't.

I have been looking for someone that has the Canadian release and no one on the site seems to own it that posts regularly. Since it has lossless audio it would be worth the double dip (I own the UK version) if there is no DNR.
