Got this eventually and I reckon it looks pretty amazing.

It's the definitive version too for extras I reckon as it seems to have pretty much evreything from the USA release and former Region 4s.

Bought from the excellent store: http://www.devoteddvd.com.au/shop/pr...ducts_id=54093

I'm warming to Australian releases because they are a wee bit different. We need more stock and more information though. Very shabby distribution system.

the USA DVD has a couple of additional special features according to dvdcompare; http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2289#8 Audio comms on the trailers.

not sure what the difference is though between the 12min (BD) making of and 6 min making of (DVD).

But yeah, its a great transfer that people stupidly avoid because its 1080i.

* oh and cheers for the scan, I updated the front scan to replace the previous crappy studio provided image.

Hey, no problem

If anyone needs a scan of anything I have just LMK. I'm amazed -been buying DVDs from Australia since way back 1997-ish) just how shite the whole market seems from here in the UK -is it that bad? When I say market I mean the selling of goods (DVD/Blu-ray) over the Internet. Everything feels dated, out of stock, MASSSIVE amount of no information etc etc. The UK ain't perfect but I reckon we are ahead in information. I can barely find a decent picture of the front no matter about the f****** back of a release cover.

It's all about information and Australia sadly seems like Brazil (and they share each others' Region 4 tag too!). They'd sell more stuff too which is a shame because that's what the Internet allows for. World-wide shopping at your finger tips All the Oz suppliers I ever chat with via email always seem very very nice.

Dunno, maybe it's me maybe people in Australia just shop instore or just don't care, but it looks poor from here. Would be nice to hear what Australian/NZ people and in particular people who aren't Australian/NZ but living there think. Do you spend all day dreaming of Amazon.com, .co.uk and Play.com?

And no I'm not gonna even mention NZ cos it's a beautiful place and I wouldn't want to offend the people there

For Australia:

For NZ:
Trade Me.com
Mighty Ape
http://www.flicks.co.nz/dvds/
http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Movies
The Warehouse DVDs

There's several more and also keep in mind that region encoded DVD players are actually illegal in Australia and New Zealand so all players for years have either been region free or easily unlockable(no hardware hacks) with Aussies and Kiwis ordering plenty from Amazon & Play.com. Some retail stores stock region 2 DVDs and I've even see a couple region 3(Hong Kong/Taiwan/S.Korea) at The Warehouse.

As for Once Were Warriors, personally I think it's one of those films people should see but doesn't get alot of re-play value due to the heavy subject matter, sort of like Schindler's List.

Just ordered this, along with the Cube/Cypher release. Really looking forward to watching this in HD. Especially as I only have the 4:3 UK DVD release.

It being 50hz is the only reason I haven't already got it. I've been wanting to pick it up for long time, but when I got a compatible player kinda forgot about it. Thanks for the warning, though

Yes, it'll play no problem assuming you are using a UK, European or 'normal' TV (unlike what most people have in the USA/Canada).

Did a quick screenshot comparison between the Icon Australia, and Film Movement USA release. Five screenshots.

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/193081

Minor difference imo, nothing exceptional between the 1080i and 1080p release. I don't really see any increase in detail...

Found the audio to be louder on the USA release though.

For anyone who doesn't own this film yet, the new French release is the way to go.

Assuming you were wanting a source for the French Blu-ray version - consider the following: https://thejokers-shop.com/products/...rriers?lang=en

Looks to be the same transfer as Second Sight's UK release, which also has an almost hour long new retrospective documentary and a new half hour interview with the director.

I don't believe that's correct as I did comparisons (can't remember the specifics however). If they are the same transfer, the French release has far better compression.
