No big surprise, Kansas is number 1 in both the AP and coaches poll. Michigan State and Texas were numbers 2 and 3 in both polls. You can see how fast a team can go from bad to good in college basketball. 13 of the top 25 teams in the AP poll (and 12 of the top 25 in the coaches poll) finished last season unranked, including 4 top 10 teams and 2 of the top 4.

Yeah really!, Great find I've been wrapped up with this tv so I haven't had time to look at CB

Man no love for the terps again even though they return almost everyone

Its good to see N. Iowa getting votes with that tag team they have they really should be getting a little respect. I think they should have gotten more votes then BYU especially since they lost Cummard.

I know KS will not last at the #1 spot for long. There's always a change in #1 until the last month or 2 before the big dance.

I dunno UNC stayed until they lost, I still think Kentucky with that roster if those kids play to their potential holy smokes thats at least two NC's. UNC has tons of power with that big roster they have now, I just think those kids need a year or two to get it all synced up.

Yeah, the #1 spot is tough to hold. It goes to the players' heads and everyone comes in playing their A game. It's good to have the top spot for about a week. Then you just want a loss to take the pressure off. As a Jayhawk fan I'm not happy at all with the poll results.

Yeah I'd rather be around 10 and hover in there, not only are people gunning for you but each week you get scrutinized and picked apart.

That's great that you don't have to be #1 in college hoops to win it all because,

1. There's no BCS
2. A no name school will at least make it to the sweet 16
3. There's always going to be the biggest upset of the year
4. They split the 4 best teams in different regions and you're considered the #1 seed and those 4 #1 seeds never meet in the Final Four.

Yes pretty much all their gms count if you're going to get an invitation to the big dance right?

Unlike the NBA they play 82 gms and you can be under .500 and still make it into the playoffs that's of course if you're in the East. NBA doesn't get excitng till after the All-Star game in Feb so I'm not really paying attention to it except for the standings.

I'm pretty psyched for the wiz so I'll be watching their games to see if there for real or not.

Honestly... I'm not sure what the heck is going on in the NBA. I'll have to check out nba.com right now.

Interesting video I just heard about on the Jim Rome Show. It's former USC coach Tim Floyd breaking up a fight between a bunch of women at a casino food court. It gets interesting when a lady grabs a chair to hit Floyd, but luckily another former USC coach, Henry Bibby, grabs the chair so she couldn't hit him. Highly recommend.

Harrison Barnes, the top high school senior in the country, will announce his college decision on November 13, according to the Des Moines Register. His official final six is Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Oklahoma, and Iowa State. It's widely believed it's down to Duke or North Carolina, with Iowa State a possibility as he lives in Ames, where Iowa State is located, his father played at Iowa State, and his mother works at Iowa State. It is expected ESPN will televise the announcement, although that hasn't been finalized.

Adidas has announced they won't renew their contract with Central Florida because the school allowed freshmen guard Marcus Jordan to wear Jordan brand shoes. Marcus Jordan is the son of Michael Jordan, and the school told him he could wear Jordan shoes when they were recruiting him. Adidas was negotiating a new contract with the school that would have paid the school $3 million per year plus free apparel for all the sports programs. The school's current contract had them buying the apparel at wholesale prices. It will be interesting to see if Nike or it's Jordan brand take over the contract.
