I dont know if it would beat Transformers, but honestly the movie was great and i think it will do very well. I think The Hangover might surprise people as well.

Thumbs up Sweet 'Transformers 2' news..

Home Media Magazine reports that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has already become the top-selling home entertainment release of the year with first-week sales of 7.5 million units!

The sequel also became the biggest-selling Blu-ray Disc release of 2009, with first-week sales of 1.2 million units.

"Revenge of the Fallen" topped day-one sales, having moved 2 million discs its first day in stores, 500,000 of them on the Blu-ray Disc format.

The sequel easily debuted at No. 1 on all three charts: the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, Home Media Magazine's rental chart and the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

Please don't compare Neilsen/VideoScan numbers with Paramount's numbers which didn't even match N/V at the time.
The final agreed on number was 120,000

Harry Potter next movie is going to hit the 1 million units and more.Transformers 2 is going to hold the position number one for the second consecutive week too.I guess a nice price will move a huge sales. If Paramount choose now to reduce its price as before and not $24 like now on Amazon till the end of the year expect 3 million and a half alone will be sold on BD.

Or, alternatively, "units" refers to more than just Blu-Ray/DVD, so it had 7.5 million "units", 1.2 million Blu-Rays, and 4.6 million DVDs? Hmm, that would leave 2.7 million "others".

Or the 7.5 million "units" is not sell-through, but shipped numbers to retailers?

A different version? Walmart oddities? Who knows.
The Home Media Magazine Top 20 Sellers chart is based on Nielsen Videoscan first alert data for unit sales for its reporting retailers and does not consider Wal-Mart sales. The unit figures in the Tom K. Arnold article include Wal-Mart sales in the 1.2 million Blu-ray unit and 7.5 million total Blu-ray and DVD figures. Wal-Mart proportionally sold more DVD versions than the Top 20 Seller percentage number on the Home Media Magazine chart which is based on the pure Nielsen Videoscan first alert report data feed.

I find it awfully hard to believe that Walmart(and other untracked sales) had the impact necessary to reduce the percentage overall from 26% to 19%.

If Blu-Ray sold zero copies at Walmart, Walmart(and other untracked stores) would have had to sell 2.9 million DVDs(almost half). And as the number of Blu-Rays sold at said untracked stores goes up, so does the number of DVD sales required to knock it down to that percentage.

Example: 100K Blu-Rays sold untracked means that untracked had 3.16 million DVD sales.

You purchased a movie that you did not like for the PQ and AQ? Not something I will ever do. I want the best version of the movies I like and will enjoy watching. It seems like a waste of money IMO.
