I have a similar question... If money is no option, but a strong preference for a silver unit, what's the best receiver?

I personally would still go with the Onkyo's. I have the 805 and love it. Granted, I prefer black, but if you prefer Silver ... it's definitely available in silver.

Yes, this is true, but I wouldn't say "older version" but rather, "early release" version of HDMI v1.3.

In an interview with Dolby Labs, they commented that "they believed that the PS3 most likely did not implement the stream-out pass-through feature for its next generation high definition codecs because the needed HDMI 1.3 protocols were still in development at product introduction."

Be aware, that even if you have a later model unit that has that capability, there is an flag known as the "Advanced Content Flag" that can block a player from sending pass-through bitstream via HDMI for processing on your receiver or processor.

Hope this helps clear things up a little.
