Also the runtime suggests that it to be the theatrical release only, with 1 hour of bonus behind the scenes extras as well. I have a Region A BD deck at home and I’ll load it up later tonight to check and report back. As Universal are notorious here for erroneous information on their covers, so I’m hoping that it’s the longer cut. And also region free for my fellow HD lovers across the pond.

Cheers!
Aw, thanks so much for going the extra mile

Bad news Ripley. Region B locked. And it's the shorter version to boot! Looks like I'll be hanging on to my 3 disc DVD version for a while yet...

Cheers

Seems odd they'd release the shorter cut ,when Studio Canal already have an HD master of the director's cut.

Yes very since dvdcompare says this now:

Blu-ray B Australia- Universal Pictures/Studio Canal - No Cuts, Director's Cut
Blu-ray B France- Studio Canal - No cuts - "Director's Cut".

Australia also have correct AR with 2.35:1 while France is 2.33:1 and you get a behind the scenes also on the aus disc. Seems like the best choice IF really the longer cut.

The info was entered on their forum by one of the DVDCompare/Rewind users a few days ago just saying Director's Cut and not giving the actual runtime of the disc.
I wish some of them could copy their BD Info (if they use that) so they could back up what they are posting. Some of the info on DVDCompare have been incorrect at times, either taken from sloppy reviews or users who know very little of the title in question.

If you have the BD I suggest you go here and enter a correction, preferrably with BD Info specs.

Yes I'll be sure to let 'em know. The Blu-ray I own has a run-time of 139 minutes, no more no less. And I've watched my 3 disc 151 minute Canadian version enough times to spot the differences in scenes even if I had the run time wrong. Our region B is definitely the shorter cut...

I'm thinking of picking this up, as I'm a huge Werewolf fan. Does this have a good storyline and does it have Werewolf's?.

Sorry for the noob question, but reading up on it on IMDB, it doesn't really tell me much about the film's content.

Wolfen type territory. No werewolves but it's a very cool genre film.

I remember watching this film shortly after its initial release.
It came highly recommended from my film professor.
I'd love to see the Blu treatment.
I hope they do it justice.
It's a great movie.

That means it'll be 23-25 over here. Was hoping to pick it up tomorrowbut at that price not a chance, far too many catalogue titles are being released at ridiculous prices, 25 instore for the Fifth Element while the DVD was on the shelf beside it for 4 euro.

It pays to keep an eye on Optimum's ebay, Amazon Marketplace and Playtrade listings, under the name cavalcade-of-dvds.

The answer is probably what those of us in the USA don't want to hear, but is this release Region-B locked?
