Once the good Doctor is on board, here's hoping Mr Lawrence will follow shortly after...

Preorder $29.00 seems steep. It will drop. I'll wait for that drop

I notice this is listed as having three discs, now. 1 BD, 1 DVD and 1 CD. Is the DVD a digital copy?

Well, then, now that the reviews are out, I don't see any remarks concerning the use od DNR or other filters that would mar the original photographic work of the movie.

As I said before, I saw Zhivago in a lavish 70 mm presentation in theaters, back in the late 1960's. It was only many years later that I got to know that the 70 mm prints were struck from blow-ups of the 35 mm negatives. It has been said repeatedly that these blown-ups were faithful copies of the originals, via a suitable optical printer. 70 mm projections, on the other hand, would turn the original film into a more pleasing and exciting presentation to patrons, given the extra light coming out of the projector's gate and to the relatively faster magnetic stripes' speed, yielding better sound than conventional 35 mm, 4-channel tracks.

The original presentation of Zhivago in my home town coincides with the manufacturing of the only 70 mm projectors made in this country, the Incol 70/35.

I also had the chance to revisit Zhivago in a theater equipped with Dimension 150 projection, in a higlhy curved screen, but the one presentation that is still in my memory is the original one.

If Blu-Ray may serve to an end for large gauge buffs, this is surely the case. And I for one who saw so many 70 mm presentations, that I can only hope that most of these forgotten titles, blown-ups or otherwise may one day be in hi-def format, like this one!

the review looks pretty dang solid. I'm more excited about picking up Saving Private Ryan, but I've been looking forward to this one for a while.

I blind bought A Passage to India, which I ended up loving! It's a masterpiece, and the good old way of film-making. I love old-fashioned movies like that, where the characters still matter, and it's set against an epic backdrop.

I also really liked Lawrence of Arabia, so my question is:

Do you recommend I blind buy this movie?

I love romance, drama, action, meditative, thought-provoking, epic- larger than life movies.

It's on my pre-order list, so just let me know what you think I should do.

Thanks a lot!

There are screenshots in the review on this site. Of course, I'm not sure why Kenneth Brown hasn't posted the full-sized screenshots in the review, yet. There are also some screenshots over at DVDBeaver, if you haven't seen them. How many more do ya need?

Those DVD Beaver screenshots look awesome. Grain field is nicely intact.
