Cool For Sparta

This is really a must buy, I can only imagine how cool this is going to look on my tv. This film was visually amazing in the theater and I expect nothing less from the Blu-Ray transfer.

I will be buying it, but I can not say if it will be this week or next.
As my B-day is in less than a week, I am hoping to get that. If I don't, it will be the first thing I do the next day.

There are quite few Blu-ray discs here in Brazil, but i guess almost all of them are imported from the US, or through amazon or through independet importers... Anyway, it's still a small market, but i reckon it's quite awkward not to have titles such as 300, a new movie, a new blu-ray release, with portuguese subtitles... Movies such as The Patriot, Casino Royale, Closer, and others have the subs, and they are sold here, and listed as wanted items on brazilian forums. .. Guess 300 will be less popular here... I know the local market contribution for deciding the format war, for now, is almost null, but I can't see how hard or space consuming would it be to add portuguese subtitles, specially because BR's region A includes all the Americas.... HD DVD players are very rare around here, as well as Blu-Ray players... but the ps3 seems to be keeping the blu flame glowing in this part of the globe... I just think they good be trying a little harder to sell more... Wish I could help in the "must" buy 300 agenda thing!

I was planning to go to the store and buy it but I decided to pre-order it from buy.com this past Monday. I signed up for google checkout(for the 2nd time using a different email address) and got $10 off. The 300 blu-ray cost me a total of $17.34(shipping included) It could have been even more cheaper had I gone with a cheaper shipping method. I may have to wait a bit for the disc, but I guess its worth it for the price.

I'll be getting 300 on Blu-Ray because I'm getting a PS3 around the same day 300 comes out. PREPARE FOR GLORY! at your house where random people's cell phones don't ring and fat people don't munch on popcorn in your ear.

It's going to be hard for the HDDVD format to sell more copies than BD since it's $40 on HDDVD and only $35 on BD. People are always going to go for the cheaper product, particularly when they are the same quality. I think most people that are into HD movies have both formats(I know I do) so given the choice they are going to get the BD format(again I know I will). Also with the PS3 price drop they have been selling a lot more units and with a ton of great games on the horizon I believe this trend will continue which means great things for the BD format. Again given the choice most people will buy the BD format instead of the regular DVD since they are pretty much the same price and you get so much better quality image and sound with BD I don't see why people wouldn't buy the better quality once they buy a PS3 and since they are down to $500 I think a lot of people are going to do so.

Default Blu is the only way

I dont see why someone would believe that hd-dvd is the better format, what is so special about it? PIP? WOW!!!! i can listen to the director talk while the movie is playing...um last time i checked, if I'm watching the movie I dont want to hear the director talk bout how he set up the shot. most hd-dvds are combos? big deal!!!!!! If im buying a hd movie i dont care about sd movies anymore!!!

There is no logical reason for someone to buy hd-dvd. If they use the cheaper price as a reason than they are dumb. All you have is Universal and from the reviews of most movies from them the PQ is not up to par as anything on Blu, prob due to disk space issues. I will be glad once hd-dvd is dead and gone and all studios support Blu to the fullest extent!!!!!! BLU FTW!!!!!

O back on topic, 300 and shooter are both mine come tuesday!!! They will look incredible on my 46inch samsung 1080p LCD

Welcome to the forums also.

Also BD has a higher bit rate and better audio. Plus the PiP on HD-DVD will likely be available on Blu-ray in the future with updates to the software. I might be wrong about this, but it really isn't anything I want either.

I stand corrected. Thinking Shooter and typed Sniper. Lets kick the snot out of HD DVD with this one. Who is listing 300 for the best price in the B&M stores? Wally, BB or CC?

The 300 Blu-ray will kick the HD DVD 300's ass, count on it.
As far as I can see, there is no Sniper with Wesley Snipes. Sniper is with Tom Berenger and Billy Zane . . .

You in?
I never wasn't in. I think 300 for HD era will be like The Matrix on DVD. It was this movie you had to have in this new format and will draw more people in. Plus, who wants an awesome movie like 300 in Combo Format. BD takes the cake on that alone.
