I re read what I wrote then realized how you could perceive it as a negative. I am just glad I cleared it out.

I've got movie titles for this epic running through my head already:

Bandit Barriers
Breaking Badgers (get it?)

I know there are some pretty creative folks in here...

Actually Bug's Life is about a revolt against taxation.

In Ratatouille, the rats are the good guys and the French are the bad guys, although the French do surrender to the rat in the end.

Apolitical films can be spun in many directions.

Given what we know about John Lasseter, think Pixar just does whatever it darn well pleases.
Would that Dreamworks had as much personal self-esteem.

(And sheesh, practically forgot about all those "Is Incredibles really Ayn Rand?" nonsense that was all over the websites back when columnists wanted to leech off the movie when it was still in theaters...
No telling HOW far back some columnists will dig.

Anyways, everyone's opinion is always welcome as long as its positive.
thats really the phrase i was referring to as well, thats not really an opinion about the movie, thats a political stereotype and it was moving towards being over the line, i think this is a good topic for conversation, and i dont want to see it locked prematurely by a mod erring on the side of caution (being conservative, maybe? )

Preserving the family unit is not the "conservative" element in The Incredibles. One of the movie's themes is the repression of the talented individual in order to fit in with rest of the unwashed masses. Bob is a superman, but must resist the urge to use his special powers to help mankind, and work as a typical office drone. However, he can't stand to live this way, and it puts him at odds with his wife, who adapts to "normal" life much easier. This is where the comparison to Ayn Rand's Objectivism is made. (I really can't explain her philosophy too well, so I included a Wikipedia link.)

Ayn Rand wrote about such a talented individual in her novel "The Fountainhead," and the hero of that book encounters the same problems and has difficulty fitting in. Rand also believed that living your life according to your own self-interests was the only way to go; that the individual was more important than the group as a whole.

Objectivism is hardly conservatism. There are some aspects of objectivism I agree with and support, while in many aspects, conservatism is just as damaging to objectivism as liberalism is.

I wasn't saying it was. I was just pointing out the reasons some critics think The Incredibles espouses the Objectivist viewpoint.

Before I read the first post to the thread, I was a little confused. But, after reading the explanation and seeing what type of conservatism he is talking about, yes, I can see it in Pixar's films.
