Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia
Christian Bale - American Psycho, The Prestige
Edward Norton - American History X, Fight Club
Ben Foster - 3:10 to Yuma, 30 Days of Night
Natalie Portman - Leon, V for Vendetta
Sam Rockwell - Moon

That is all I can think of for now. I know there are more.

Def Meryl Streep

Pacino and DeNiro are great actors but have fallen off the scale. DiCaprio is the newest up and rising star.

Other worthy mentions:

Anthony Hopkins
Tom Hanks

She is very good but does not have the range of DDL. Nearly every performance from DDL is oscar worthy.

Ah she has been in a few duds.

In saying that you guys need to look up some European cinema in particular French cinema. Some great actors and actresses not even on your lists. And many of them are brilliant.

Example Vincent Cassell.

Well....that's arguable. I don't think there's any doubt, no pun intended, that Streeo has incredible range. A simple glance at only her Oscar nom performances proves that. DDL also undoubtedly has great range, but he is also much more selective with his roles.

I think in terms of pure talent, DDL is better. But both are two of the best ever, so debating who is better is like arguing between Magic and Larry

the shear range this man can throw down is astounding, i mean he really just delves fully into all his characters and for an entire movie you forget this guy is only an actor. He is truly a god among men.

Magic is better than Larry, but Jordan trumps them all! So I guess while DDL & Streep are Magic & Larry, Denzel is Jordan! Uh oh let the replys come! Got Em!!

The film may be a dud, but not her performance. Everybody has been in a dud or 2... even all the greats.

You are right, there are many hidden gems in foreign films. Directors as well.
