Default Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 3 starts 9/17

Didn't see a thread on this in the first three pages, so here goes...

So yes, Season 3 starts a week from tomorrow on 9/17, so set your DVRs....

Here's a new preview video for it:
It's truely epic!

Looks like were going back to Kamino for quite a bit of this season. And we might be getting some Phase II armor in this season, as well.

There's also a new Web-based Clone Wars gaming site called CloneWarsAdventures.com which feature several 3D games that are more epic in nature than the little cheesey kiddie-type games that star Wars.com had. It goes on-line on the 15th.

Here's a preview of that here and a more in-depth one here.

It's the same series.

You had the theatrical movie that came out in August 2008. Then it was followed by the first season a month later. After that the second and now the third.

the animated clone wars movie was released in theaters? somehow I missed that one. So, the ideal viewing order would be TPM, AoTC, Clone Wars (2008), Clone Wars series, RoTS, then the best three!

The feature film came out in theatres before the series started and served as an introduction to the show; so it introduced Ashoka and all the new Clones that would appear in would appear in the TV series.

Although I wouldn't say that the ideal viewing order is as you have sugested because Star Wars: The Clone Wars is seperate from the live action films. That's not me saying they can't counted as canon, they are, but they're best viewed independantely from the six-film saga, because of the style and story structure of the show; where the live-action films are the story of Anakin, the TV series is about the Clone Wars as a whole and feature an array of different Jedi.

I was under the impression that the clone wars was about Anakin. Thanks clone trooper. I'll give it a view.

The CGI film was, but the show encompasses much more than just the Anakin story line.

Actually, if you want to get really detailed, there were two episodes that took place before the Clone Wars movie. "Prequel" episodes if you will. These are "The Hidden Enemy" from Season One and "Cat and Mouse" from Season Two. So the ideal viewing order would have these two episodes, then the movie, then the rest of the seasons. Interestingly, both of these episodes are #16 in their respective seasons. I'm curious if Season Three's 16th episode will continue this tradition.

So, I guess my question was answered. The first episode tonight was a "prequel" or flashback episode. It takes place before "Rookies" in season one. Really good start to Season 3. Jar Jar will be back next week which will annoy some people.

Like me.

Overall these two episodes were very strong. I like that we got an intelligent character driven drama for the first episode. The show is always at its best when it focuses on the clones.

The second episode was a good shoot em up with a couple small problems. For one I think Ventress should have succeeded in finding the clone DNA. It would have been a better setup and it would have given the bad guy a partial victory (something that this series has been seriously needing since its inception). The other issue is that Shack Ti should have had a lightsaber duel with the Ventress or Dooku instead we just have Obi-Wan versus Grevious and Anakin verus Ventress AGAIN. Yes there is such thing as too much of a good thing.

The positives outweighed the negative. Animation was better. How I love Moores law. Facial animations in particular are more realstic then pervious seasons. The action was great, characters were strong, and villians were villinous. Why Jar Jar though. Why

I don't mind Jar Jar. I say bring it!

Tonights episode was what I had hoped for. Would have loved to see Anakin slay Ventress, but maybe in a later episode.

Has Anakin fought Ventress yet, though? For some reason it doesn't ring a bell (not counting the micro-series). And...

[Show spoiler]Clone 99... nooooo...

No but I do count the micro-series. Such a shame that Anakin and Grevious can't fight. Grevious is a reflection of what Anakin will become so it just makes so much sense for them to fight each other in this series. Id love the 2011 Blu-Rays to change the Revenge of the Sith dialog just to make an Anakin vs Grevious Clone Wars fight possible. Obi-Wan fighting him again was just repetative. The fight almost exactly the same as Season 2s Grevous Intrigue. Shack Ti should have gotten a lightsaber duel I wish the series had given her the opportunity A strong episode but still one with missed opportunity.

Thought both episodes were great but I wanted to see a bit more action at the end of the first episode. They need to make the saber battles longer and better.
