And it took them to turn it on!

I had the TV tuner for mine, and it spent more time plugged into the wall than it did playing it on the go.

Did it ever! I had a battery pack for mine, usually gave < 4 of play after an 8 hour recharge. Had some nice games; some of which really need to be put on a compilation someday. Like: Defenders of Oasis, Shining Force, and Psychic World.

I had a Mattel baseball that was a 2 person game (it was green with brown resembling the seating)...one pitched using a flip open door on the top (not removable like the black one you can see on the web) and one batted. You pitched a fastball, a slowball (change-up), curve or a ball (bean). The batter could hit, bunt and steal.
Kept me entertained before Intellivision and Atari.

I also had a toy car that was "programmable" called the "255 Computer Command" - it was a Covette with programmable distance and turns. We could never get it to do what we wanted. I also had a tank that was similar in commands called "Big Trak"

I just found this guys site. I have a busted Pac-Man Coleco unit I bought for the battery cover and I may try this out. A mini arcade would be pretty cool.

The Game Gear was definitely the king of the hand helds.
