Watched this on Saturday, bit boring but quite enjoyed it, PQ is nothing special for a blu but not bad either, I'd say 3/5, AQ is good with nice use of the surround, 4/5 but Viggo does mumble a lot so be prepared to crank it up to hear what he's on about.

SORRY for my insisting, but if anyone could spare a little time to give me that information. That would be great...

Thanks in advance!

Thought the PQ was pretty good. Not demo material, but plenty of detail of most shots. It's a very bleak/drab looking film anyway which doesn't help, but I wasn't disappointed with it.

Concerning the technical parameters of the main feature, the US BD outperforms the UK.

This is obvious, because the US's size of the feature film on its own: ca. 29 GB (http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/blu-r...ad_blu-ray.htm) is bigger than the UK BD in total: 26,8 (http://www.avforums.com/forums/12160685-post37.html).

My take still is, that the main feature is identical on the UK and AU BD (http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/m...678&locale=all). So since both release have the commentary, the only relevant potential difference for the main feature is the stereotrack on the US (if the UK has that one too, even that falls away). The conclusion is, that the UK BD is a tad lower in videobitrate and about 1.5 Mbps lower in audiobitrate.

For me this leads to the US BD, since I do not care about differences in the Extras. But be aware that it is locked to Region A!

I went ahead and ordered the UK disc, and it already shipped. As long as it has the commentary track, then it is much better than the Australian disc, which is to be avoided, huh?

Only a couple of centimetres, so the blue bit of the box shows at the top.

Great movie and i thought the Blu-ray had reasonable PQ. Not good enough to show off my system but it was still impressive in parts. It's the same price as the DVD version in Sainsbury's (£11.99). I managed to get a copy for £10.80 though.... It helps having contacts who work in retail

Personally i think the road is beautiful, a type of perfect movie i loved it and its been getting steadily better since i watched it. More meaning in every square inch of film than the entire bulk of the book of eli.
Props on the awesome "transfer" from paper to film too, i wont see anything so accurate for a long time to come.

Don't be silly. Just because it has a larger data size doesn't mean it's 'better'. Plenty examples of vastly smaller HDDVD single platter releases beating their larger file size Blu-ray counterparts.

Anyway, havng read the Uk release review @ http://www.avforums.com/movies/The-R...0/blu-ray.html the US disc certainly seems to be the best transfer https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-R.../10483/#Review

It's still very difficult to find other opinions though. Anyone seen both?

As much as I dislike this entire production I am going to reasses it. I like to give these smug religiously themed films a 2nd chance at xmas
