Apparently they begged Terry O Quinn to star in part 3 and even offered him the chance to direct the film but he flat out refused.

Seems the third film has little fanfare, but I thought it was a lot of fun. The new actor was pretty over the top in trying to be the "nice guy" killer. In a way it kind of reminded me of Serial Mom from a couple years later and also a bit of The Carpenter with Wings Hauser.

I've always liked this one too. I remember renting this back in the day, so there's also some nostalgia kicking in. I actually bought the rental VHS for cheap a while back, just for display.

Watched Shout's Blu-ray release of the original Stepfather film last Friday night (decided to get a copy during one of Deep Discount's recent discount code offers, which subsequently arrived last week), followed by Synapse's DVD of Stepfather 2 the following night, and Stepfather III last night (from a television screening a few weeks ago).

You couldn't accuse the first film of being dull. Thought it was a very good thriller/horror thriller. Two of the things I loved about it were the autumn/fall look and music score/music tracks.

You know, I have not seen these movies before~but they do sound interesting. I do like Fall type settings, so this one sounds like it is worth a watch. I'll have to pick it up next chance I get!

I didn't check Amazon, but I got my copy from Deep Discount (during a discount code offer). The transfer on Shout's Blu-ray wasn't too bad (it definitely wasn't faded as the colours were strong on the whole). The titles at the beginning juddered a bit, but after that the picture/transfer didn't judder. I hope a label like Klaatu Records or La-La Land Records can do a music score/soundtrack album boxset on CD for the original three Stepfather films (as well as a CD album of the score for another horror thriller actor Terry O'Quinn did around the same time as Stepfather 2, called Pin).

O'Quinn aside, I noticed (but not straight away as I was getting them confused with another Millennium actor (the one who played Giebelhouse, Stephen J. Lang) the actor who played Andy McLaren in the final season of Millennium, Stephen E. Miller. Shelly Hack I recognised from watching some sampled episodes of Season 4 of the original Charlie's Angels TV series.

I think you'd like the Stepfather films, Bradsdadg.

Presumably cuz they just can't or haven't yet. ITV might be the hold-up for all we know, which I'd put as far more likely than Shout simply not getting around to it. Elements might be an issue too. The Blu is an ancient master of course, they couldn't dredge up anything better back in 2010.

If an IP is available that's perfectly fine too. No use calling things off! Unless of course an IP isn't available either.

It's possible. They were credited on the Scream 4K release of Company of Wolves though so it's happened with them before. It's possibly a element issue. I'd love to see this get a 4K! As well as The Last Seduction (which ITV has the rights to and SF is hosting digitally, iirc)!
