Nispel is the perfect example of a director who knows how to do horror remakes as he did TCM remake and Friday the 13th remake. Got Em!!
I agree with the TCM part... but cmon.. .the Friday the 13th movies have zero storyline....now... ha, i know saying that to YOU is probably the worst person to say it to...but theres not a real storyline after the first 2 maybe....

I feel zombie gets backlash for actually reMAKING the movie and not just making a sequel... he put his spin on it and gave an actualy story which is why i liked it....

I disagree and we can leave it at that. I loved the remake and felt it was done very well. Fresh new take on it but didnt forget to stay tru to the original. Got Em!!

Again I disagree. These are horror films so storyline isnt gonna be that deep anyway. But Zombie tried to do way to much storyline and instead disected Myers and gave us a Myers we didnt even know. He tried way to hard and shouldve just made his own horror film. Got Em!!

As much as I enjoyed the F13 remake, I have to admit its an easier formula to reproduce. The F13 franchise has gone through a lot of directors, but few of the films (at least not until they get into New Line Cinema territory) fall that short of the first film's quality. To some degree the second film is an improvement over the first.

I think Zombie's problem is he wanted to do something so different from Carpenter's film but didn't stop to think whether it made for a good movie or not.

Did you see the later sequels? The franchise was insulted long before Zombie came along.

I saw all of the sequels and I wouldn't have expected anything less given the time they were made. Like I said, if you like RZ great, I happen not to and I think the franchise would have been better off without him.

I disagree. Of course when u have a long franchise like Halloween certain parts will be better than others but it was still tru to Halloween with the exception of part III but we all know the story behind that one. Got Em!!

This will go on forever and ever, seriously. At the end of the day only one thing is important: that you like a certain movie or not. Nothing else.

Naw it feels like a remake. It had the earlier elements of the film like the girl resembling his mom wearing that item that belonged to her etc....Got Em!!

Naw man u didnt get what I said. Pretty much the mom portion of the plot took place in only parts 1 & 2. This movie was a remake covering parts 1, 2, & 3. So adding the mom element in the new one is obvious because it is a remake. A sequel at this point especially wouldnt include anything about his mom. Got Em!!

i don't hate zombie but i hate his movies. he loves horror, and i can respect that and i feel like he has a great movie inside him waiting to get out. but he hasn't done it yet. i have given three of his films 1/10 and one (devils) a 3/10. four movies combined have only gotten 6/10 from me. that's ****ing terrible Robert !!

It's not about the Remake or the Sequel, it's about Spoiled Indulgent Wannabes who think they're the Chosen Ones who possess sole knowledge of the original, just for being fanboys with money:

I remember when everyone was complaining about '82's "Psycho II" being made by somebody besides Hitchcock--
Despite the fact that director Richard Franklin had personally studied under Hitchcock, and had two well-received B-movies on his resume that critics said were influenced by Hitchcock...Which seemed to be enough of a resume to qualify. (Or at least a good reason why Brian dePalma didn't get it).

As opposed to, say, a self-indulgent metal star who made two ultra-niche home movies that appealed to only a wishful core of hardcore fans...And then had the scheming Weinsteins grabbing him to put a dog-collar of their own house-brand commercial projects on him, so they could get their own piece of What The Young People Out There Were Talking About.
