I promise you that's 1023 shared, not 1023 dedicated I base my information from the company who built the card. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600M.html
a 1023 card does not exist, see that tiny 16? yea follow up on it. ![]() Last edited by phil; 08-15-2007 at 03:32 AM. |

phil, I have something that your Dell can *NEVER* be mistaken for - no matter what you do to it... The Original Blu-ray enabled laptop!
Don't care what your Dell can do on 3Dmark! I know that this Sony was designed around the BD drive, period. Not an addon, not an option, it was DESIGNED as a BD platform! Your Dell was not. Have a great evening! ![]() |

Oh and of course Sony will never tell you what that 16 stands for, convienent how it ends at 9 isn't it? http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665161511
Very typical of sony to do, like I said almost all Sony Video Solutions are Shared Memory, just be glad you have 512 dedicated if you even have that. Nvidia DOES NOT MAKE A 1023 so I don't know how Sony would have a 1023. Does normal ram come in at 1023 ? (Of course not, and Of course it's shared shouldn't even be arguing over this) You're just an average user who uses his PC for every day things I suppose, have you actually upgraded your PC before? I only ask because if you have then you would have known 1023 is a really odd and funky number for total memory. 512+512=? Last edited by phil; 08-15-2007 at 03:46 AM. |

YEah I think it's pretty funny you opperate on only 1 gig of memory. Good luck trying Vista on that. Much less running another program along with playing your Blu Ray Film. You should try an upgrade sometime, it might be useful on your current machine. And I'm being serious there is signifant improvements from moving to 1 gig to 2 gigs overall or technically (2048) since I'm talking about ram numbers earlier.

Vista, and Aero Glass, worked great on my A190 VAIO - 512MB and 128MB Radeon 9700, Don't want Vista though!
Yeah, Crucial has a 2GB kit for $105 for this model... maybe. BTW, 92 processes and 0% CPU Usage here... BDs are *NOT* a problem. One of the perks of having a machine built around a Blu-ray drive... by the company that invented Blu-ray! ![]() Thanks! |

Well sony products work REAL WELL with one another, always have always will. I wouldn't say you have to get a sony to do video editing but I would say you need a few things. For started a good amount of ram would be great, along with ALOT of HDD space I mean at least 100 gigs if not more. Why? Video Editing takes up alot of space because if you want to edit, you have to upload everything first onto your HDD before going to the Chop Block. A good video card could be helpful, a decent amount of ram for going back and forth between the video and smooth rates, and a decent viewing area or space on your desktop to work with.
Sony are Great and Easy and Light on your Eyes (Truely wonderful to look at and marvel) But heavy on the Wallet. I belive Blu Ray in General fits the bill on that statement alone. ![]() |
