Oh, how I wish I would have done this instead of waiting on Paramount! What the hell was I thinking?!

Paramount wasn't competent enough to give a a good initial release of one of the most popular movies of the last decade, what made me think they could actually successfully orchestrate a good, timely exchange program.

*falls to knees, and shakes a fist in the air* - Damn you Paramount Home Entertainment! Damn you all to Hell!

Default gladiator exchange

Maybe I am just too old fashioned but taking a faulty disc for exchange to a company that did not sell it to me and was not responsible for the fault seems dishonest to me and I would be ashamed to practice such a trick. My disc went off by post and I am content to wait.

Or, are you just remorseful that you didn't do it either...

Can anyone answer these questions.

1. What is the real address for sending in the disc to get a replacement?

2. How can I tell I have the remastered version?

3. What do I look for at the store to determine if the movie is the new remastered version?

4. How much does the new remastered version cost?

5. Are the $10 rebates still valid on the new remastered version?

6. How do I know if Amazon or other online retailers have the remastered version?

7. When will I get my new disc if I send it in to Paramount for the exchange?

8. What is the number I call to confirm I have the original release of the movie ?

So you mean you've never taken a defective product back to the store you bought it from?

Edit: Sorry didn't see Jlant's original post. That is clearly a different case.

If your commenting about me and my post below, I did buy it at
Best Buy. If what I did was dishonest than I guess I will have to
deal with that some day but save me the holier than thou routine.

This is what I did.

I returned it to Best Buy without a receipt. Told them it was a gift
and it didn't play and they let me take a new copy off the shelf
(remastered version) and they did an even exchange.

The whole process took about a half hour including driving to and
from there. Beats waiting 3 to 4 weeks for Paramount
Did I say I was currently watching the remastered version of Gladiator?

Just got home from exchanging my copy (without receipt) at BestBuy. They just looked up my receipt from my RewardZone membership and did an even exchange. Thank you BestBuy!

I don't consider it wrong at all. You didn't steal anything. The product you had was being replaced for free and you did it an easier way than usual. You merely created a slight inconvenience for Best Buy.

There have been several occasions with computer hardware in which an expensive part broke that was out of warranty and I went to the store and bought a brand new same model and ended up taking back my defective one and just asked for my money back.

It's listed in the first post.

It's listed in the first post.

3. What do I look for at the store to determine if the movie is the new remastered version?
No "2-disc set" above the Paramount logo on the bottom right side of the case. (The sleeve is irrelevant.) No security sticker on the top of the case.

4. How much does the new remastered version cost?
Same as the original.

5. Are the $10 rebates still valid on the new remastered version?
Deal expired 6/30 so no.

6. How do I know if Amazon or other online retailers have the remastered version?
No way to tell. Those that have ordered recently from Amazon have received the old version.

7. When will I get my new disc if I send it in to Paramount for the exchange?
According to Paramount, 4-6 weeks.

8. What is the number I call to confirm I have the original release of the movie?
888-889-9456

Default Thank you

I'm new to this site, and don't blog much, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone here at this forum site for all the great information on how to identify the new re-master for Gladiator. This is one of my all time favorite movies, but I was not buying the version with all the DNR & EE. Without this forum I wouldn't have even known there was a re-mastered version. Thanks to all of you. I now own this movie on blu-ray, and it looks, and sounds fantastic.

Yeah, I've learned SOOOOOOO MUCH from the other fellows on this site, not just about Gladiator but about Home Theater and many other things. There are A LOT of insider experts and industry experts that stop by from time to time. I'm here a lot too. Warning tho, this site will also help drain your wallet too with all of the HOT DEALS that are posted here. BEWARE!!! DONT SAY THAT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN WARNED!!!

Default GLADIATOR replacement disc

Thank god I was on a vacation day today! Paramount just called me about the replacement disc for Gladiator. I have to send them my disc 1 only with a note with my name and address and they will send a replacement. I had emailed them some time back when I first heard of the issue but never heard from Paramount. Here's the address below if anyone else may need it:

This has been covered ad nauseam in the Gladiator thread. Have you been on vacation all month?

Took my original to Walmart last night while going on a short shopping night out with wife, while she looked around I went to the CS, after looking to make sure they had the new version, I said I wanted to swap he asked me why I said there was a recall on the original, lol, he said ok go get the one you want. I went over grabbed the copy that is missing the 2 disc marking, yes they had both, went back made the exchange without receipt, just needed ID. Done deal, I could not begin to explain why we were trading discs so "a recall" was all I could think to tell him, my wife says we are all nutzz about this stuff and I am starting to believe her

Default Talk about wierd!!!!!!

Talk about wierd....i was just reading this site when my cell phone rang...and who was on the line you ask? A representative from Paramount!!! Lol! He was returning a call that I made over two weeks ago! Luckily for him...I have this site to reference when i need information! He wanted to tell me about mailing my disc 1 in for an exchange...when I told him that i did that over two weeks ago and was wondering WHEN my replacement disc would arrive...he said "I have no idea...probably within a couple more weeks." Thanks alot dude apparently all you do is make phone calls and have NO idea about what's going on! Awesome! Lol!!
