There should be 2 more options. Like "I own both, but perfer Blu-Ray" or "I prefer HD-DVD". I have an HD-DVD player, but I don't buy movies for it anymore.

The real war isn't with HDDVD but DVD.
If that one can't be won in time, then blu will become like dvd-a and sacd.
Blu need to go mainstream but all of the pieces have yet to go into place.
(1080p sets in millions of homes for example)

Mostly Blu-ray but I'm a high def lover and not going to be deprived. I think Blu-ray is the better technology. I'm at about 3:1 in discs in favor of Blu.

Cool Why are these players so dang expensive?? lol

When all this High Def stuff started I was die-hard HDDVD cause it was the cheaper player, but then I saw a comparison of the two.....wow what a difference. Suffice it to say that I'm all for quality now. I'm Blu all the way, problem is which unit to get...there are so many. I am leaning really heavily towards the PS3 due to how versatile it is and such. Any thoughts, and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

This Yahoo! News article sort of got my goat.

Down towards the bottom, this media research clown says; "The more positive development for the industry ... would have been having the Blu-Ray-exclusive studios start releasing on HD DVD," Adams said. "We think ... there's some inevitability that they will have to release in both formats."

Wonder whose payroll he's on??

I'm kind of in the same boat, but the price of the players isn't what bothers me.
I want to make sure that the hardware specs are nailed down firmly.
The PS3 seems to be the best player out now, but I don't need another gaming machine.
(have an xbox360 and I don't really game that much anymore)
I thought about buying the HD-DVD addon at one point, but its like throwing money away.
I'm looking very hard at the upcoming new Samsung players.

Yeah, price really don't matter to me at this point either. I don't have a gaming console, besides my pc. So I'm guessing the PS3 is the one for me. lol thanks for the incite.

I agree that will be the real war...but "in time" to me is over the next 5 years.

Some people talk like this needs to happen this year, or its over. I'm sitting here thinking...do people really recognize how long it will, and should, take for this to happen?

Agreed. It took a while before DVD overtook VHS.
I don't see this taking shorter than that.
~5 years might be right.

BD all the way. What makes me support HD DVD? None!!
What makes me support BD? DISNEY, PS3, FOX

It appears we have one person siding with HD DVD exclusively

The mods can tell us who voted HD-DUD.
