Welcome. There are many excellent souls at AVS that I hope get a chance to find their way here.

I truly hope AVS can clean things up and return to the greatness it once was.

Gary
That will very likely not happen for several years, and it will probably take an outright win (by either side) in the format war before it does.

Even then, you will have a year after the fact where people will fight and argue as to why their format (HD-DVD ) didn't prevail!

I don't think I know the Kumbaya song... and I've been told that me singing is the quickest way to clear out a room...

Nevertheless... I look forward to your posts here...

Welcome!

Rup.

You will need to better explain these comments:

Being supportive and intrigued by Blu-Ray's capabilities and potential shouldn't make us closed-minded -

NO - not everything is good or even acceptable with Blu-Ray as a format (yet).

YES - there are some things HD-DVD is (still) better at and we all can and should learn our lessons here!

Trojan horses need not apply!

If you are genuine, welcome to Bluray.com
Look through my over 1600 posts @ AVS and I'm sure you will find your valid explanation.

In short - and to put it very simple - critical commentary instead of blind "fanboyism" in order to improve the execution of the format.

I take it dear Josh has upgraded to a BenQ W10000 1080p 1-chip DLP so this is border-line acceptable for me now (assuming that he follows some of my advice and at least paints/covers his white walls for the sake of intra-scene/inter-pixel contrast...)

But I guess he ist still not to be convinced that Universal's "Traffic" transfer is anything but genuine 1080p...

Heh. Joshua Zyber's review of Traffic is an embarassment, and his staunch defense of his review (which was done on his old 720p projector) is even more so.

A Projectionist arriving here is a GOOD thing. One of the persons I enjoy reading posts from and admired over there. TheLion. Most welcome

He is doing pro-reviews with a Benq projector. Wow, that is some poor standards. A decent projector like the JVC-HD1 or the Pearl/Ruby would go a long way to showing up some of the poorer transfers on both HD DVD and Blu-ray.
