I'm sure a few animals missed the ride on Noah's Ark, and we all know how that turned out ;-)
Star Wars just appeals to a broad range of people, as continues to do so with newer generations through books, games, etc.
Obviously blu-ray is the best from of digital home media, so a combination of the two was inevitable. Even at $90, it took less than an hour to shoot up to #1 on Amazon...so that's pretty telling right there.
Will everyone buy it? Of course not, and that's to be expected. I don't think you could point to any one movie and say "everyone, 100%, will buy it"...but I suspect the upcoming Star Wars release will come the closest.
That is why it's considered the "holy grail" of home video.
The funny thing is, back in '04 when Star Wars was released on dvd it solidified dvd as the standard. Wouldn't it be ironic if it spelled the death knell for dvd in 2011, ushering in BD as the standard in home video.

It doesn't necessarily mean that one doesn't like SW if they don't buy it. I like the Alien movies and haven't bought that set (I have the Quad DVD set) yet regardless that I could get a version that is cheaper than the US. So we'll see with SW.

I know I won't be purchasing any version of Star wars as, I am in the minority of movie goers, who wasn't all that crazy about them. I also am not one who buys blus because many consider it an essential in movie owning. To me, the only ones that are essential are ones that I enjoy.

Okay, confession time. I've never seen Star Wars. Any of them. Sure, I've seen the odd snippet when it's on TV, but not enough to know the story, so I'm going into this one completely blind.

I've pre-ordered it, so I can finally sit down and watch them all back-to-back. If I don't like it, hey, I can most likely sell it on eBay for more than I originally paid for it.

There is nothing wrong with posting this type of question (Although the existing thread would be a much better place to do it.....) as long as you can pose the question unbiasedly, without 'trolling' for fans of the series to come in and debate you....

Nope.... looks like you have an agenda to me

Best to close it before someone looks at your collection, insults you on a movie-by-movie basis, then the internet-tough-guys come out in force.... what a vicious cycle.....
