DB boxes is the way to go. Kai is pretty good but I just can't stand the new voices :-(

For Dragon Ball Z in HD, you have Dragon Ball Kai.

Even if Toei Animation ever releases all the Dragon Boxes again, they'll never replace the original DVD's because they're superior.

So I can't hope for the uncut and full DBZ set in HD because Kai is available? What does one thing got to do with the other?

Aren't the original elements on 16mm? If so, I don't understand why the original DVD "will always be superior".

The closest thing to Dragon Ball Z in HD, right now is Dragon Ball Kai, get it? Okay then.

You can wish for the Dragon Boxes in HD, but it'd take Toei a very long time to accomplish it (piece by piece), or it'd just be an upscaled version.

We're lucky enough that Toei Animation and Pony Canyon released all the Dragon Boxes so there shouldn't be any complain.

Did you know Toei Animation had Dragon Ball Z in DD 2.0? But because the got rid of it, the Dragon Boxes have the DD 1.0 (Mono). Still, sounds great with a sound system.

"Dragon Box on Blu-ray" it would be expensive, it'd take a very long time for Toei to complete and probably not many would consider buying it. So, not really lucrative. Heck, even the original Dragon Boxes are hard to find (rare) now and really pricey.

I've been holding off on the seasons for so long because they're so bulky and overpriced. I figured Kai would've finally been my solution but then I found out the series ends at the end of the Cell Saga.

So to correct the statement earlier, they did not cut the full series (291) down to 99, the Cell Saga ends at episode 194 so if you choose Kai just know you'll be missing anything from the last 97 episodes (Great Saiyaman & World Tournament, Babidi & Majin Buu, Fusion & Kid Buu). In terms of seasons, Kai summarizes the first 6 seasons and ignores the final 3.

I wouldn't buy it given that the dragon boxes don't have the cartoon network usa audio.

I buy the Dragon Boxes because they aren't DNR'ed to hell and they aren't cropped, not because it has the 'original japanese audio.'
yeah really

By audio, I assume you mean Bruce Faulconer's soundtrack that you can buy on cds if you want to hear his songs he created for the English dub version of DBZ that badly.

No I'd never want to just listen to the music I mean like the music playing in the background during fights or general scenes, I just started season 2 and if you have the orange boxes you have three choices in setup

English dialogue with Japanese Music in 5.1

U.S. Broadcast Version Stereo (what aired on CN:toonami)

Original Japanese Mono

And from what I read online the dragon boxes only have the English dialogue with the Japanese music which is why I always advise people who grew up on the toonami to pass on them because I believe that second one got omitted from the sets.

The Dragon Boxes are purely for the die hard fans who grew up on the show pre-Cartoon Network. They are the quintessential Dragon Ball Z sets.

lol so if I go plop down the money to buy them and never open them I'd qualify as die hard

Just cause you don't like the japanese dialogue and audio has no bearing on how diehard one is.

I said die hard fans pre-Cartoon Network. You have stated time and again that you are for the American dub.

Probably by next year since we're not too far away from getting all the parts. After all, Funimation did re-release Soul Eater in shorter sets.

Man, I can't find it for cheap around here. All the releases are set at $35.99 here. Sucks. I only have Part One. I may just wait until the inevitable complete collection release.

Almost done watching Part Five, can't wait for the last two.

supersix4 @ The Dragon Boxes are for the fans of the original series not americanized one.

Koreo @ The sets either on Blu-ray or DVD don't even cost up to $25, it's actually less, only $18 or $19.
