Would definitely buy this in 4K.
If cutting the "soap" elements means cutting out Jessica Walter, I say no!

noticed this print has a big sideways shaking problem (instead of the usual up and down)

it's very obvious in some scenes like this one

I absolutely adore this film and here is another film that is very similar SAFARI 5000 for anyone that is adventurous and can seek it out.

Here is the forum topic about it:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=230839

Basically the Japanese investors / crew from Grand Prix wanted to replicate the success of it and make their own 3hr racing epic in Japan, this time the focus is on rally racing.

The grand theaters of the day usually did have some slight or sometimes deep curves in their screen but this was eventually phased out.
Only films designed for deep curves could properly play in Cinerama. If it wasn't designed or conformed it would look pretty bad I'd think. Most of the later single projector Cinerama films like GP either had to be designed with the curve in mind or checked in post to make sure they'd be ok. That's what Doug Trumbull recalled Kubrick and everyone having to do last minute on 2001.

Smilebox could be used on these as an interesting alternate. The only other process that would require a deep curve would be Dimension 150 which was only used in Patton, The Bible and little else.

Jusy this today and the image is great on the Hisense H9G. I am a bit disappointed that the LFE is pretty lacking. I have an SVS SB1000 Pro and I have it turned up all the way to eek out any low end.

Amazing essay, and I hope that the hype for the Formula 1 movie coming out next year helps us get this movie in UHD sooner rather than later, maybe in the special anniversary in 2026. But even if it doesn't come out anytime soon, I'll still have hope and be patient for as long as it takes for someone to finally do an UHD of this.

And, of course, Le Mans deserves an UHD as well.

Seems like the chances of a UHD may not be likely at the moment. Repress (?) just came out on June 24, probably to coincide with the upcoming release of Kosinski's F1.

Hopefully on 4k someday and preferably with proper artwork considering that Montand is really the main character in the film
