I HATE the Unrated cut, as it makes the movie way too serious, and gross.

I can't watch it anymore.

Last summer, ComingSoon.net broke the news that Jim Carrey was in discussions with Bobby and Peter Farrelly to develop a sequel to their 1994 film Dumb and Dumber. Then, in October, it was revealed that Sean Anders and John Morris had come aboard to provide the screenplay. Today, at the junket for he and his brothers' latest, The Three Stooges, Peter Farrelly says that not only Dumb and Dumber 2 coming, it's set to begin production later this year.

"We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," he says. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

The original Dumb and Dumber represented one of Carrey's breakout comedy roles. The film was given a prequel in 2003 with Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, but Peter Farrelly stresses that this is something very different.

"We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer'," he continues. "That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched 'Dumb and Dumber' and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'"

Wow they actually Talked Jim "I dont do sequels anymore" Carey to sign on for a sequel! Wow hopefully this is going to be as good as the original to help wash away that horrible prequel

I'm crossing my fingers on this one. Lets hope the Farrelly Brothers can win back their fans after that horrid prequel. I'm just hoping the sequel will be better than the original.

Considering the quotes came from the Three Stooges (which opens In 2 weeks) junket, I'd say it is most likely from the last few days.

EDIT: I see what you are getting at now. This has been in talks for a long time. I doubt the site would use this subject matter as April Fool's fodder. TWICE AS .

As I said earlier, this has been in development for a while, and with the three stooges almost out, I almost guarantee this information is real. It's not the first real news to be released today, with the Steve Jobs biopic that was announced. And let's not forget, when we found out Whedon would do the avengers, it was April 1 as well.

Nope. No sarcasm whatsoever. That smiley was EXACTLY what I intended to place there.

Honestly, I'm super-uber-mondo-stupifiably excited about both The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. They are going to kick some serious ass. But, the prospect of a proper Dumb & Dumber sequel with Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey has me THAT MUCH MORE excited than the other two films I mentioned.

I have never laughed so much at any piece of entertainment over the years as I have (and continue to do) when watching Dumb & Dumber. Even after, what I guess to be at the very least, 50 viewings, I still find myself in tears from laughter whenever I watch it.

It's one thing to want it better than Dumb and Dumberer, it's a whole nother ballpark to hoping it's better than the original.
