Default Drive Angry - May 31, 2011

Drive Angry Blu-ray

Drive Angry 3D Blu-ray

Quote:
Summit Entertainment has officially announced that on May 31 it will release Drive Angry on Blu-ray, in two editions, 2D and 3D. Thus, this is Summit's first release using the Blu-ray 3D specification. This action movie, starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard, was shot natively in 3D, not converted. Stereoscopy notwithstanding, the movie flopped, drawing only $10 million at the box office.
  • Special features for both editions include:
  • Audio commentary with filmmakers Patrick Lussier and Toidd Farmer
  • Access: Drive Angry - activate dynamic "scene specific" features including interviews with cast and filmmakers, track the body count in Milton's Mayem, and more
  • Deleted scenes with filmmaker commentary

The movie was not that bad. The 3d was ok. The movie stole a part from shoot them up.

Like it ever had a chance to be good? Its one of those "Hey lets make a film to take advantage of silly 3D". Nevermind a good plot or story or acting or anything other positive things.

......says the guy w/ the cg Yoda avatar.

"Those who live in glass houses......"

Drive Angry 3D was one of the best blind-buys I've made on the format. Heard & Fitchner are incredible, and this is the perfect "vehicle" () for Cage. Not every movie has to have Oscar-caliber performances/writing/directing (like, I-dunno, the Star Wars prequels for instance) to be an entertaining and fun "ride".

Movies of this style don't require a good plot, story, or acting. They need to be highly entertaining, that is all. If it tried to take itself seriously, it would have failed miserably since this kind of a movie shouldn't be like that.

Says who? I think every movie should take itself seriously... This whole notion of movies being bad on purpose has been around a while, sure, but it was always relegated to B pictures or very low budget films... not big Hollywood productions.

I think good characters/plot/etc MAKES a movie highly entertaining. If its just stupid impossible stunts and such, that's not really a movie. I think that's precisely the PROBLEM with movies these days... everyone gives pieces of junk a "pass" by using the EXCUSE that it doesn't have to be good. Well I call B.S... that's why so many bad movies get made, because people will go see them no matter if they are good or not.

for sony yes, but don't other companies like disney put their 3d versions on seperate discs? then again, i guess they always come in combo packs with
the 2d version included.
was just wondering how summit will handle it, since its their first 3d
release.
i really like summits releases though, their new release prices are
always very fair (except for twilight) and they seem to understand the
fact that slipsleeves are very much appreciated

I'll buy the 3D release since it's a combo pack with the regular 2D Blu-ray. Just in case one day I buy a 3D projector.
