Couldn't agree more!
I think the Tangerine Deam score is one of the worse and most unsuitable scores for a film I've ever heard.
i wonder how some people prefer this over Jerry Goldsmith's masterpiece!

Is it up for preorder yet? I can only find the Canadian BD which, as always, is a rip off.

yeah im a HUGE Tangerine Dream fan, Near Dark and The Keep are two of my favorite film scores (and i even own the Legend score on vinyl) but that score just doesnt suit the film. its too contemporary sounding, a movie like that needs a timeless score. the TD score dates it too much.
i like the score on its own, i just dont think it works for the film.

I agree with this to some extent...actually, it has been quite a while since I've seen the U.S. Theatrical Cut, I guess there's a slight chance I may pick this up when it gets released and give it a watch, to see if my thoughts/feelings on the picture have changed...

That aside, I openly admit that the film is stunning in terms of visuals...

Ridley's director's cut is so much better than the theatrical cut in so many ways. I have the two disc version with both cuts on DVD and not only is the director's cut 24 minutes longer, but the music actually flows better as mentioned in earlier posts. Also, the 24 extra minutes help explain parts of the story that are lost to confusion in the theatrical cut. Of course the biggest plus is not having to hear LOVED BY THE SUN over and over at the end of the film.

Cool. This movie is on my shortlist of films I have never seen but would insta-buy on Blu. More Ridley Scott is always welcome.

And in the same month Alien comes out. Double Ridley Scott Bonus.

Great news! Never had the DVD, was always too pricey. Will be getting this for sure!

Any news on Willow?

I disagree. I think that while the DC is a slightly (and I mean ever so slightly) better film in terms of content, I'd much rather watch the U.S. theatrical cut (it's faster, the DC getting dreadfully slow at points, and the Tangerine Dream score is light years ahead of Goldsmith's work in my opinion). As I've said before, certainly no offense to Goldsmith, he's one of the greatest film composers ever, but Tangerine Dream's work on this film was simply magical.

There were several instances where it was advertised on sale at retailers such as Best Buy for $9.99 or less...I once saw it for $6.99.

No, but I certainly wish we'd get a release of that already, as it's my personal favorite sword & sorcery fantasy movie.

I'm in complete agreement on this. The TD score is nice on its own, but it just does not work in the film. Not only stylistically/thematically but watching the theatrical cut is awkward because it doesn't match any of the cuts and scene changes very well either. It's not seamless as it should be, but instead just feels tacked-on.
