I think the Tangerine Deam score is one of the worse and most unsuitable scores for a film I've ever heard. i wonder how some people prefer this over Jerry Goldsmith's masterpiece! |

yeah im a HUGE Tangerine Dream fan, Near Dark and The Keep are two of my favorite film scores (and i even own the Legend score on vinyl) but that score just doesnt suit the film. its too contemporary sounding, a movie like that needs a timeless score. the TD score dates it too much.
i like the score on its own, i just dont think it works for the film. |

That aside, I openly admit that the film is stunning in terms of visuals... Quote:

Ridley's director's cut is so much better than the theatrical cut in so many ways. I have the two disc version with both cuts on DVD and not only is the director's cut 24 minutes longer, but the music actually flows better as mentioned in earlier posts. Also, the 24 extra minutes help explain parts of the story that are lost to confusion in the theatrical cut. Of course the biggest plus is not having to hear LOVED BY THE SUN over and over at the end of the film.

im psyched for this. saw it 20 years ago, and its glistening imagery is still in my memory. if this is done right, legend will look amazing. what was the one with rutger hauer and ferris bueller? i saw it in the theater and never again. something falcon. oh yeah...the lady and the hawk. willow would be sweet. seriously though -red dawn please!

I'm in complete agreement on this. The TD score is nice on its own, but it just does not work in the film. Not only stylistically/thematically but watching the theatrical cut is awkward because it doesn't match any of the cuts and scene changes very well either. It's not seamless as it should be, but instead just feels tacked-on.
