Finally I managed to get my hands on Yang's underknown masterpiece The Terrorizers and I must say it's one of the best packages I've ever seen, from design to colours. Generally I get rid of the DVD copy but in this case I'll keep it, cause it's so beautifully made. Marvelous. Also, just because I dig comparisons SO much, I took my VCD copy, which, before the glorious restoration, was the only way to see this movie. Well, I think this kind of things must be shared. I mean: it's a different movie. I posted several caps just below. Thanks, digital era!

Thanks for going to all that trouble. Sometimes I look at the VCDs I have of rare films and ask myself: "No matter HOW rare this is, am I ever going to actually WATCH something that looks this bad?"
You definitely don't want to get rid of the DVDs from these packages - if I remember correctly, the extras were on the DVDs, not the blu-rays. ![]() |

Hopefully we will see a Terrorizers release in the US, as you can purchase it on iTunes in HD.

I'm guessing with Criterion's appreciation of Yang, they will gladly release a blu if they get their hands on the rights.

An informed mate of mine in Taiwan recently mentioned that this title is nowhere to be found anymore (including second hand shops). You will find it appears on ruten (auction site), but be advised, those are Hong Kong knockoffs (most likely BD-R) and not the real deal.

**Bronzing Alert.
Today when re-sorting some films as I do as always do and just check a few out randomly to ensure they are still working. I'm afraid my Blu Ray of The Terrorizers is basically dead. I tried it in three machines (a Sony, Pioneer & Panosonic) and virtually no go, though the Pioneer at least played the copyright warning and than died. The disc is bronzed apart from a one inch strip on the top half of the disc which is due a the other side having a strip which a still from the film on it. I didn't buy the boxset with four films. I only purchased this and Vive L'Amour. I checked Vive L'Amour and it is bronzed as well but it played in the Panosonic machine - I haven't bothered to check it in the other machines. I note the packaging for both discs is 2010. I also have the Tsai Ming-liang set of Vive L'Amour, The River and Rebels of the Neon God copyright 2014 and they all look, load and chapter search fine (I did happen to watch The River and Rebels of the Neon God earlier in the year). All the above discs are from Central Motion Picture Corporation. Thankfully the DVD of The Terrorizers is fine and I did watch the film on Blu Ray when I first received it in 2011. Anyway, I would suggest checking any discs from Central Motion Picture Corporation. |

Yup. I checked all of my CMPC movies. Most of them were fine except my bluray of The Personals. It's completely bronzed and unplayable. Luckily the dvd works fine, but half the reason I wanted the blu in the first place is for the PQ. I emailed the CMPC and Sony Music Taiwan over a week ago, with no reply. A shame. The least they could do is offer me a HD digital file or something, if I could prove that I own a copy (and that it's bronzed/not functional; since that's a manufacturing defect.)
