I bought the Dutch release today and noticed that when I set my PS3 to English menus (which I normally do) the running time of the film is 130 minutes and 10 seconds. However, when I set my PS3 to Dutch menus the running of the film is 130 minutes and 31 seconds which is 21 seconds longer. So by 'UK Theatrical Version (triggered from English Menu's only)' they meant that you watch the cut UK version if your player is set to English menus.

To be fair, as they haven't done a 4K scan (my god would that be wonderful), at least they haven't DNR'd it like Predator: UHE.

I think this is the best it'll look unless they do a 4K scan, which I can't see happening any time soon.

I will get it eventually but not at the current pre-order price of £13. Maybe when it is half that.

I was going to wait for the US release, but I've taken the risk and ordered it. When it arrives I'll try changing the menu language and see if it works on the UK pressing (I'm doubtful as I don't see any BBFC logos on the scans of the dutch disc, so it may have its own pressing). Can't imagine the BBFC being happy about this though.

None of the Dutch BDs have UK logos on the disc, even if the release is the same. So that's not a good way to check if the discs are the same.

I don't see why the BBFC would not be happy about this. They and Fox think that people in the UK always watch the movie via the English menus and people in The Netherlands via the Dutch menus. I'm sure most people do this, but there are also Dutch people like me who have set their player to English menus.

Having read the none too raving blubrew review, I think I'll just buy the US bd from Universal. Sounds like both releases are very likely to be identical.

The BBFC is not going to allow a disc to go on sale in the UK from which it's possible to select a non-classified version of the film.

What they don't know won't hurt them.

True, but once it's released and there is an unclassified cut on the disc, the BBFC might ask for a recall (and a subsequent re-release) meaning this first printing could be rather rare.

The other point is that as the UK is part of the EU, there exists the fundamental doctrine of free-movement of goods so if it's possible that in the future, say only the French or German or Dutch version has the uncut footage, it's so easy to import it into the UK (for those in the know).

Or if the US version is region free (and the transfer is the same, or better) I'll get that version too.

Hello Everyone,

Do we know if our release is uncut, or is it still cut?

The BBFC have a god complex. Believe me, they'll go apeshit if there's any way of circumventing their aprroved cut on the disc. They constantly hide behind the animal cruelty legislation, so effectively if Fox have done this then they're liable for prosecution for supplying uncertified material. This is why I'm sceptical that the UK version will have the uncut version on it. Fox have too much to lose. I hope I'm wrong though, and blind faith has made me order it just in case.

Bit difficult to make out but it looks as if it contains just English language and English sub titles unlike other European versions - as one would expect.

Fox are known to only print the audio and subtitle selections known for the country/region it is issued in despite there often being more on the actual disc so cover specs are usually unreliable.
