The PowerSellerNYC has had Kuro's in stock since they stopped being made. The reason they still have them in stock is because of the list prices, they never put them on sale because they know they'll eventually sell out of them even if it takes 5 years. It's only warehouse space for them.

I confirmed with the technical support that indeed none of their panels support 24Hz native playback without 3:2 pulldown. Seems odd that in 2011 they wouldn't have incorporated this by now for the price. |

There is a woman on Craigslist in Commack (Suffolk County) NY willing to sell her used Pioneer Kuro PDP 5020 along with a PS3 80gb version for $1,200.
http://longisland.craigslist.org/ele/2474276848.html She is also selling it as a package for $2500:

![]() Man I would need to come into a lot more money to justify spending $6,000 on a 50". It gets to a point where its just plain ridiculous to spend that much more on electronics for the amount of improvement (Assuming your not wealthy). |

Once you see the Kuro in action, you'd understand. The Kuro line wasn't really meant for the average tv buyer.

The monitors. The Signature Elite 101 or the KRP 500m. They both share the same panel, chassis and most of the same internal parts. Although the Signature Elite parts are all hand picked including the glass and the panel itself.
Next would be the Signature Elite 141. And then the elites (111/151) with the non-elites (5020/6020) after that. |

The 101/500M/141/600M all have MLL under .001fL which is where the 111/151/5020/6020 are measured at. The 101/500m's have been measured as low as .0004fL and the 141/600m's can be close to that.
For some people the monitors don't work because there is no tuner or speakers. For some reason people like those. ![]() The monitors also feature World Wide Signal support. They will display the following signals. HDMI/DVI/Component/VGA 480i/60 480p/60 576i/50 576p/60 720p/50 720p/60 1080i/50 1080i/60 1080p/24 1080p/50 1080p/60 Composite NTSC, PAL, SECAM, 4.43NTSC, PAL M, and PAL N Last edited by scweb13; 07-09-2011 at 12:09 AM. |

No I understand they are amazing TVs. I've seen the 151 multiple times in person as my cousin has one in his living room. I had no problem with the Kuro pricing when they were still available. But paying that markup for a discontinued TV is ridiculous. Just like I wouldn't spend $4,000 on a Sony XBR960 in mint condition in some warehouse. I could understand buying a special Fender guitar that was discontinued at a markup, as the guitar will still hold its value whether its 10 years or 50 years down the road(Guitar technology doesn't improve). But TV technology is always progressing forward which means you are investing a significant amount of markup money in something that is aging(even though it is great at what it does). What makes more sense, spending $4 grand on a VT30 now and taking the extra 5-6 thousand and seeing what it can buy you in 3 years or spending 10 thousand now on a 60" Kuro? |

Well obviously its meant for "AVoholics". Even the OP isn't willing to lay out another $6 grand for one. I was really addressing the sane population. People without an serious addiction. Didn't know what side of the fence you were on. My apologies.

Fair enough. No apologies needed. You didn't do nothing wrong (that I'm aware of).

It's a lot harder to shell out that cash when you know what they were going for in the last year or so that they were still being made.
Under $2,000 for the KRP-500M. Wish I had the money on me at the time. I hope the 2012 TV's can hit 0.001, that would be awesome as that's when I'll finally have around $3,000 to lay out for a new TV. |
