Hmm, as I say, I'm a fan, but it seems the SH market is becoming crowded and saturation point can't be far away. We'll see.

I love a good super hero film, but the genre can't last forever. Plus they will be up against a host of other films such as the Hobbit, the first of the TinTin series, possibly the next Avatar film, not too mention the next Bond release!! It's probably a good job Harry Potter is about to conclude, there would be no release space for another one

I've a feeling we'll see a few of these franchises rested and mainstream audiences might begin to tire of annual super hero releases.
Pretty sure as long as they make money, there will always be Superhero movies. Iron Man, Captain America and Thor could be long running series' and hopefully we can at least get two more of the First Class movies.

'Thor 2' To Be Scripted By Don Payne
Quote:
As Deadline told you yesterday, Marvel Studios needs a director for Thor 2 with Kenneth Branagh departing, but they have got a writer. Marvel has set Don Payne, one of the credited scribes on the first film, to script the sequel. Payne rewrote Lobo for Warner Bros, and was one of the writers on Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. His superhero experience started with My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Payne's also co-executive producer on The Simpsons, so there might be a laugh or two in between intergalactic mayhem. Chris Hemsworth is reprising his role as the hammer-swinging hero. The film will be released July 26, 2013 by Disney.

I understand your point but really we should look at it as if a movie it is good it is good. People never say that about Sci-fi/fantasy movies, lol. Oh Avatar 2, a new Aliens movie, oh no more LOTR stories from Pete Jackson! Its too saturated we tired, lol. As long as you got a good story to tell you will always have my business at least.

You don't even gotta have a good story to attract 90% of audiences today. I mean Michael Bay wouldn't have a career if that were the case. As long as genre movies make money, their will be genre movies, simple as that.

Seconded. But I am only interested in Thor 2 if Tom Hiddleston returns.

Exactly he was the credited writer of the first movie, so what's their issue?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Sure he has some credits that aren't great, but whose to say some of the better parts of those movies weren't his? I thought Thor was very well written, so I'm glad he's coming back to do another. I don't see any reason to be upset over it.

Whose to say they weren't?

I don't know the extent of his work on Thor, but I do know about Silver Surfer and super ex-girlfriend, and those were craptastic.

The weakest part of Thor for me was the script, and it was kept aloft because of the suburb direction.

But this makes the second director that has dropped out of Marvel since disney took over...coincidence?

But we don't know for sure. It's ridiculous to let your excitment fall I feel until we even see some footage. Who knows, what if he writes an incredible script and knocks it out of the park? Then all the panic was for nothing. I just find it a little ridiculous. I mean, to each their own, it's just my opinion.

As for the Disney making directors go away insinuation, really? Come on, directors leaving to do other things isn't unheard of. Not to mention Fav's leaving was so he could continue working for Disney on another movie. It's not like he's butting heads with them. In fact, he was butting heads a bit with Marvel more than anything. And that's because Marvel wants full control over their movies. They know what they want to do, and they want their director's to work within the confines of that. Maybe Favs and Kenneth didn't like that and that's why they're leaving. But it doesn't fall on Disney at all.

Since he is credited on the first film, I am not too worried at this point. I would like to see another writer enter the mix though. While I thought the script for Thor was good, it was also very fast paced and did not leave a lot of room of deeper moments with strong substance. Hopefully Thor 2 will have more screen time for that.

Well, there is twenty minutes of the movie that was cut, so maybe if it had been left in the movie would have felt more fleshed out. I'll never be able to know because I doubt we'll see an extended cut of the movie.

I didn't realize twenty minutes had been cut. That is what I get for abandoning these movie threads.
Hopefully the deleted scenes will make it to the DVD and we can judge for ourselves like with The Incredible Hulk. Though, even with that, we did not get all the deleted scenes as I recall. There was that one scene with Ty Burrel talking to Bruce in the living room that was in the trailer but not in the deleted scenes on the Blu-ray.

Yeah, I still want to see the rest of the scenes from TIH. There was like thirty+ minutes of that movie missing! Where is at, Marvel?

Well that's not really what I said, I just find it odd that two directors that have received so much praise for their work are now leaving their projects. Could it have something to do with disney? Doubt it, but I wouldn't be too surprised if that was the case. I just wish they would have stuck around.

I agree. But in a way, I'm ok with Favs leaving because we got Shane Black as the director of Iron Man 3 which is just incredibly awesome. If they can get someone like that to do Thor 2, then I'm I'll be less bummed out by the change. Sorry if I read you're last post out of context, it just read like you thought it was because of Disney.
