Not me, I'm a "grind their bones" kind of guy. When I defeat someone/something after a long fought battle (just ask the fill valve on my toilet, I burned it after having to cut it off with a dremel because the washer thing was stuck). I want them to suffer for being obviously wrong and such jackasses about it.

I seriously doubt that MichaelHDDVD will actually go through with smashing his player with a sledgehammer and his 5 minute YouTube video about what a moron he was. Certainly the tier 1 and 0 types should get it.

Cool

If ANYONE did any research at all before diving in, there wouldn't be any problems. The thing that convinced me most to go blu was studio support. Yes Universal is a major contender and has a lot of great titles, and then I saw Weinstein(at the time I was like WHO?). Now even with Paramount in their camp the choice is still obvious. Bluray all the way.

I wouldn't feel sorry for that guy, he chose what he chose, whether he researched or not. I would've started listing off all the other titles exclusive to bluray just to rub a little more salt....hehe

I blame the media and their strange logic that bluray studios are the ones that should go neutral, and not the hddvd exclusive studios. There is no incentive whatsoever for a BR exclusive studio to go neutral. Smaller disks, no region coding, no BD+ will keep bluray studios from going to HDDVD. And thats not even including the fact that HDDVD is losing market share every day in every category.

This is causing people to be fooled into thinking they're spending their money wisely in HDDVD. The sooner it dies, the sooner that customers stop wasting their money

I was at Futureshop when I bought my PS3 and I was talking with the sales person there and he had me sold on the PS3 over the Xbox360 + HD DvD combo it was around the same price. I am very glad I got into the PS3 vs Xbox360, when I was looking into getting into the HD Market I did little reseach on it, but now that I read this Forum Daily I glad I did go PS3 over the Xbox360. After reading everything over and the studio support and stuff, the one thing that still bothers me is if the Xbox360 Elite came with a built-in HD Dvd I would have maybe purchased that one. If, not even Microsoft wants to add an HD Player into their systems and make it an add-on who is to say that don't already have Blu-Ray addons already. Hell with the Blu-Ray disks alone being able to have a lot bigger capacity maybe that is there future drive for the Xbox.

I love movies and have thought about going neutral, but at the end of the day if Blu Ray wins it will have all studio support, if HD Dvd it will have all Studio support, and if we want something to win we have to just support one, and not the other to prolong a format war! Hey it is just money and we all wish we had more of it, we just need to support one till the end or near end and then go with the winning format!

the problem is....I don't believe people have ever had to endure seeing particular movies come out on a new format and not on another...

nobody is expecting a split in studio support....they just think it's the "next" format that will supplant DVD......it's just that there are two formats...

a lot of people have no idea there are movies exlusive to either side...

Yes. VHS-DVD-Laserdisc.

Everything came to VHS. Some to DVD, some to Laserdisc. Take Disney. They put stuff out on LD, but not DVD for a long time. They were anti-DVD (re-buy reasons).

Face-Off, came out to LD, but not DVD.

etc . . .

We have no BB and CC is more pro hddvd, at least the mgmt is.
As far as displays there are on of each, in shitty locations and in the HD player aisle there are 2 blu and no hd displys, but they do have a universal player that plays both blu and hddvd for 800.00

That's the one thing any potential HD owner should do. Look at the movies available now and the ones that are coming out. They will see a larger Blu-Ray display which should be a tip-off.

Yep and all of you thinking you are paying alot for your discs now. You are not! I wish the price of Blu-ray would come down but it is already down compared to my LD habit. I still have a sealed copy of Schindler's List that has a $139 price tag on it. I figured no collection would be complete without it but do not really want to watch it again. And then there were all the Disney titles that came out at $99.

The few times I been anywhere carrying both, I was the only one looking. Except the guy I convinced to buy blu-ray at CC. I then stroll into the HD-DVD section looking for stray blu's.

If I see someone picking up HD-DVD I'll have to bite my tongue. They already bought their player, me preaching at them will not change that. At least, not at first.

So, what's the point?
the prevailing culture in the U.S. is one of ignorance, impatience, indulgence and infidelity. thus the dual format mentality...
