If MGM is in trouble they may as well lease out the video rights at least temporarily to some other company that can give this groundbreaking movie the presentation and package it deserves. A Criterion or even a properly done Sony release of Terminator would be awesome!

i doubt its the new master.
i will wait and see if it gets released in the US by the time this is out here.
if there is no news then i will wait and pick this up cheap end of next year.

Hopefully they will release a 'Skynet Edition' in a steelbook like they did with Terminator 2, and unlike most people, I would also want to see a Terminator 3 Steelbook since I got the Play.com Salvation Steelbook and I would like to have them all in steel.

I am so hoping that this is the new transfer unannounced at pre-order stage.

I did not pull the trigger on the US release. So this would be a single dip worth waiting for (if it is the remaster)

Recently mission impossible got a hyped re-release that was just repackaging of a sub par release with lossy sound, though..so obviously some companies love to pull this lame crap.

Well that just ruled out the much anticipated 'Skynet Edition'

Best we can hope for is a new encode with higher bitrate in a more modern codec

If it does turn out to be the American (mpeg2) release, i won't waste my time with it... would rather wait another 2 years for the enevitable 30th Aniversary Edition

Well at least with the 10% off it's cheaper than £11.20, whatever the transfer. Hopefully Running Man will follow in 2012.

Probably student discount, my in store card ran out in 2008 but I still get online discount

This will no doubt be the same as the US release, which I haven't heard great things about.

As a Terminator fan however, I am pretty tempted to pick this up. I'm still considering whether to get Salvation, because imo, thats the weakest out of the 4.

Yes it's region-free, but it's a horrible release. No original mono-track, the picture is pretty bad, and barely any extras.

Sorry no unfortanately not, my 5 year old student discount code is still active - which is the only reason I tend use them for all my new releases over amazon.
